Religious cooperation urged in new book

At a time when many of the world’s conflicts have taken on religious overtones, Nazareth College’s Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue has come out with a new book that urges a different path.

 

Sacred Texts & Human Contexts: A North American Response to a Common Word Between US and You, a 437-page collection of essays published this month, seeks common ground among Christians, Muslims and Jews.

 

“This is very timely,” said Muhammad Shafiq, executive director of the Hickey center and an editor of the book, which draws most of its essays from a 2013 conference hosted by the center.
