What Exactly is the 4th Trumpet and How did it Take Place?

Question:  Allen from New Zealand called to ask Irvin about the 4th Trumpet. He wanted to know exactly what does the Bible say about it and he also wanted an explanation of how this trumpet took place.

 

Answer:  In the book of Matthew, chapter 24, Jesus said, “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” So the Bible teaches that the days are going to be shortened, the only question is how and when. I am not sure I know how except that the Bible says the sun will not shine for a third of the day and the moon will not shine for a third of the night, and the only way that can happen is for the rotation of the earth to speed up because that’s what causes day and night. Can God do that so that human beings cannot detect it? The 4th Trumpet had to happen somewhere between 1986 and 1991 because the 3rd Trumpet happened in ’86 (Chernobyl) and the 5th Trumpet happened in ’91 (Gulf War). That throws the 4th Trumpet somewhere in that 5-year span, and something important took place during that time (1989 Berlin Wall).
