US warship shoots down missiles from Yemen thought to be heading for Israel

A US Navy warship successfully intercepted three missiles fired from Yemen and heading north, according to US officials. The USS Carney, a Navy destroyer, located in the Red Sea, carried out the interception. Although it remains unclear if the missiles were targeted at Israel, reports from Hebrew media indicate Israeli defense officials suspect they were.

US officials have stated that they do not believe the missiles were aimed at the ship. It is worth noting that Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, who have expressed support for Palestinians and issued threats against Israel, operate in Yemen.
