Russian jet collides with US drone over Black Sea; Russia‘s ’dangerous‘ actions could lead to ’unintended escalation’
A Russian Su-27 jet, one of two flying in tandem, collided with a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone in international airspace over the Black Sea, Fox News and other outlets reported Tuesday.
“Our MQ-9 aircraft was conducting routine operations in international airspace when it was intercepted and hit by a Russian aircraft, resulting in a crash and complete loss of the MQ-9,” said U.S. Air Force Gen. James B. Hecker, commander, U.S. Air Forces Europe and Air Forces Africa, in a press release from United States European Command.
