LGBTQ+ crisis hotlines report spike in calls after Trump victory

In the days leading up to and following Donald Trump’s election victory, LGBTQ+ crisis hotlines experienced an alarming surge in calls, particularly from young people in distress. One call involved a nonbinary 16-year-old who, along with three friends, had made a suicide pact contingent on Trump’s win. The teen ultimately reached out for help, which the Rainbow Youth Project successfully provided, preventing a tragedy.
