‘Betrayal’: 6 reactions to FDA’s approval of generic abortion drug

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic form of the chemical abortion drug mifepristone produced by a company that states its mission is to “normalize abortion.” Several pro-life groups have decried this move as a “betrayal,” but the FDA said federal law required its approval. In a Tuesday letter to Evita Solutions LLC, the company that produces the drug, the FDA stated that it had conducted a review and determined that its mifepristone tablets are “bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent” to the brand-name version, Mifeprex.
