Unmasking the Darkness: The Spiritual War Behind Hollywood, Politics, and Religion
Unmasking the Darkness: Why Spiritual Warfare Is Front-Page News
By Dave Robbins, Endtime Ministries
DALLAS — The headlines glitter with celebrity, politics and religious posturing. But beneath the surface, a more consequential story is unfolding: a spiritual war for the soul of humanity. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities… against the rulers of the darkness of this world” (Ephesians 6:12). On The Endtime Show, host Dave Robbins put it plainly: what many once dismissed as “conspiracy theory” now sounds uncomfortably familiar in everyday news.
The story behind the story
For years, observers have whispered about elite circles, secret societies and occult currents shaping culture from boardrooms to backlots. Today, those whispers echo across mainstream platforms. Even secular voices acknowledge that something deeper—something spiritual—is at work. That admission should not surprise students of Bible prophecy. Scripture has long warned that the last days would be marked by deception, counterfeit power and a global bid for control.
Revelation 13 describes an end-time world government and a partner world religion—systems that derive their authority “from the dragon,” a biblical reference to Satan. This is not myth or metaphor. It is the prophetic backdrop to the headlines. Satan seeks a visible kingdom—political, religious and economic—to coerce compliance. God’s Word exposes the scheme and lights a path to victory for those who will see.
Culture as a pulpit
Hollywood is more than entertainment. It is a pulpit that preaches values, reframes heroes and normalizes what once shocked the conscience. Consider the way witchcraft and occult themes migrated from cute gimmick to mainstream glamor. Or how a primetime drama could recast the Adversary as the misunderstood lead—clever, winsome, even sympathetic. That is not harmless storytelling. It’s catechesis by another name.
Music follows suit. Ritual imagery. Blood-soaked spectacle. Lyrics that trivialize rebellion, lust and hell itself. Repeat the chorus often enough and ideas settle in the soul. Isaiah warned of a day when people would “call evil good and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20). That day is here—and influence is doing what influence always does: shaping hearts.
Politics, power and the drive to control
The same spirit animates our politics. Around the world, governments lean into surveillance, centralized standards and digital ledgers that could one day regulate who buys, who sells and on what terms. Bible prophecy saw it coming. Revelation 13 foresees an economic system that restricts participation to those who comply with a global mandate. You can feel the scaffolding going up—policy by policy, platform by platform.
The pressure is not merely economic. Law and custom now wrestle openly with God’s design for life, family and identity. Genesis 1:27 affirms that God created humanity in His image—male and female. Yet in our cultural moment, foundational truths are blurred and redefined. When society severs itself from the Creator, confusion is the inevitable result.
Religion’s counterfeit—and the real thing
Scripture is equally clear about religion at the end of the age. A charismatic leader will arise to front a global spiritual movement that looks powerful, performs wonders and deceives many. Revelation 16 pictures unclean spirits—“spirits of devils”—going out to influence rulers and rally them to a catastrophic end. The message is always the same: a seductive half-truth, a spiritual counterfeit, a promise that flatters pride while dulling the fear of God.
But God is not silent. The light of His Word exposes darkness. The gospel of Jesus Christ still frees, still heals, still rescues. Hell is real (Revelation 14), but so is salvation. No one has to be swept along by the current of the age.
America in prophecy—and a call to clarity
Many insist America is absent from Bible prophecy. We urge you to take a closer look. Understanding the prophetic symbols matters, because it clarifies how to live now—how to stand with Israel, how to resist a world government, how to keep your witness clear as events accelerate toward the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. When the symbols make sense, the noise dies down and the mission comes into focus.
What to do now
-
Test everything by Scripture. Trends, talking points, even miracles must be measured against God’s Word (Acts 17:11).
-
Guard your gates. What you watch, sing, scroll and celebrate shapes your soul. Choose light.
-
Refuse the counterfeit. Do not trade biblical truth for cultural applause. Truth without compromise is love.
-
Stay mission-minded. Share the gospel. Pray for leaders. Stand with Israel. Strengthen your church.
-
Get equipped. Learn the prophecies so you can recognize counterfeits and encourage others.

In a world dazzled by fame and power, do not mistake the glitter for glory. The real battle is spiritual, and it is already underway. The good news: Christ has told us what to expect, how to stand and where this ends. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5). Stay awake. Stay anchored. And let the light of God’s Word lead you home.
