Sound the Alarm: God Is Calling Watchmen in the End Time

The end time is now.

Moral confusion, globalist deception and open rebellion against God are no longer distant threats. They are unfolding before our eyes. From efforts to centralize global authority to the development of digital identification systems that could affect how people buy and sell, the prophetic framework described in Scripture is taking shape.

These developments point toward the approaching return of Jesus Christ. This is no time for the church to remain silent. God is calling watchmen to stand upon the wall, recognize the hour and sound the alarm.

It Is Time to Wake Up

Romans 13:11 declares:

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

Knowing the time matters.

Many people failed to recognize the First Coming of Jesus Christ because they did not understand—or did not take seriously—the Messianic prophecies recorded in Scripture. But those who were watching knew that something extraordinary was taking place.

The same principle applies today. God did not place end-time prophecy in the Bible so that His people would ignore it, dismiss it as unknowable or assume everything would somehow work itself out. He gave us prophecy so we could recognize where we are on His timeline, prepare ourselves and warn others.

The clock is ticking. Every one of us must ask: What will I do with the time I have left? How will I serve the cause of Jesus Christ and advance the kingdom of God?

You have a sphere of influence that no pastor, evangelist or ministry can completely reach. There are relatives, neighbors, friends and co-workers who may never hear our voices—but they can hear yours.

God may be calling you to become a watchman to them.

As It Was in the Days of Noah

Jesus warned in Matthew 24:37:

“But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Before the Flood, people continued with ordinary life. They ate, drank, married and made plans for the future. Business carried on as usual until Noah entered the ark and judgment came.

But Noah had been warned.

He did not sit idly by while the world approached destruction. He obeyed God by building the ark, and 2 Peter 2:5 calls him “a preacher of righteousness.” Noah sounded the warning, even though the people refused to listen.

They may have mocked him. They may have dismissed his message as foolishness. But their rejection did not change the truth of what God had spoken.

God also warned Abraham before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. In both cases, the Lord revealed what was coming before judgment fell.

That is the responsibility of a watchman: to hear the Word of God, recognize the danger and warn the people.

Jesus did not give His church an understanding of prophecy so Christians could win arguments on social media, impress others with their knowledge or write books merely to gain recognition. Prophetic understanding carries a responsibility. Those who understand the times must help others know what they ought to do.

First Chronicles 12:32 describes the children of Issachar as men “that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.”

The church needs that same discernment today.

The Signs of the Last Days

Second Timothy 3 warns that perilous times will come in the last days. Paul said people would become lovers of themselves, covetous, proud, blasphemous, disobedient, unthankful and unholy. They would love pleasure more than they loved God.

Can we not see these characteristics throughout modern society?

Self-love has replaced humility. Rebellion is celebrated. Natural affection and the biblical family are under attack. Truth is treated as a matter of personal preference, while those who stand upon the Word of God are increasingly portrayed as intolerant.

Paul also warned of people who would have “a form of godliness” while denying its power.

That warning reaches into the church.

A person may stand behind a pulpit, look like a preacher and sound religious, but the real question is whether that person is faithfully teaching the Word of God. Too many churches have replaced biblical preaching with motivational messages designed to make people comfortable.

But biblical love does not avoid the truth.

The church must teach about sin, repentance, doctrine, salvation and holy living. A pastor cannot skip difficult passages because someone might become offended or stop attending. The purpose of the church is not merely to attract the largest possible congregation. Its purpose is to lead people to Jesus Christ and prepare them for eternity.

A church filled with thousands of people but emptied of biblical truth is little more than a social club. The goal is not simply to fill seats. The goal is to help people reach heaven.

The Spirit of Antichrist Is Already at Work

First Timothy 4 warns that, in the latter times, some will depart from the faith and give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Paul describes lies, hypocrisy and attacks upon what God created to be received with thanksgiving.

The Antichrist has not yet been revealed, but the spirit of antichrist is already operating in the world. We see it in the assault upon the family, traditional marriage, biblical authority and the goodness of God’s creation.

These are not isolated cultural developments. When considered alongside movements toward global government, global religious cooperation, digital systems capable of controlling commerce, continuing efforts to divide the land of Israel and preparations connected to a future Third Temple, they become prophetic markers.

The Bible commands us to know the time.

It is high time for the church to wake up.

The Biblical Duty of a Watchman

The clearest description of the watchman’s responsibility appears in Ezekiel 33.

God told Ezekiel that when a watchman saw the sword coming, he was required to blow the trumpet and warn the people. If the people heard the warning but refused to respond, they were responsible for the consequences.

However, if the watchman saw the danger and remained silent, God said the blood of the people would be required at the watchman’s hand.

The warning could not be clearer.

A watchman does not control how people respond. His responsibility is to deliver the message faithfully.

That commission remains relevant to the end-time church. Those who understand Bible prophecy must warn the world about what is coming: the rise of the beast system, the Great Tribulation, the final seven years leading to Armageddon and the glorious return of Jesus Christ.

We sound the trumpet by teaching Bible prophecy and examining current events through the lens of Scripture. Wars, rumors of wars, moral collapse, movements toward world government and efforts to establish a global religious system all demand our attention.

Silence is not an option.

Children of the Light

Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5 that the day of the Lord would come as a thief in the night. While the world cries, “Peace and safety,” sudden destruction will come.

But Paul told believers:

“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”

The children of God are called children of light. We are not supposed to be spiritually asleep or unaware. We are commanded to watch, remain sober and understand the hour.

Prophecy is not intended to produce fear in faithful believers. It should produce spiritual alertness, obedience and urgency.

God did not give us His Word so we could continually receive knowledge without sharing it. A Christian who only takes in but never gives out becomes like the Dead Sea. The Jordan River continually flows into it, but the water has no outlet.

Believers were not called to be spiritual reservoirs. We were called to become channels through which truth reaches others.

If God has allowed you to understand His Word, that understanding is not only for you. Someone else needs to hear what God has shown you.

Watch, Prepare and Warn Others

Jesus never promised that the final years before His return would be easy. The church may face opposition and persecution. The Great Tribulation will bring unprecedented pressure upon the world.

We must not sugarcoat the message. Instead, believers must put on the whole armor of God—the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet of the hope of salvation.

Jesus warned that His return would find many people carrying on with life as usual, just as they did in Noah’s day. Some will be prepared; others will not. Faithful servants who are watching and carrying out their Master’s will shall be blessed. Those who live carelessly because they believe the Lord has delayed His coming will face judgment.

This is not a game.

There is a time for laughter, fellowship and enjoying the blessings God has given us. But there also comes a moment when we must recognize the seriousness of our calling.

You cannot live only for yourself. You are an ambassador of the kingdom of God. Your prayer must become: “Lord, my life belongs to You. Show me what You want me to do.”

Perhaps God has been urging you to speak to a neighbor. Maybe there is a co-worker, friend or family member who needs to hear the gospel. Do not continue putting it off.

Sound the alarm with compassion. Speak the truth with love. Teach others what the Bible says and show them how to prepare for the kingdom of God.

The prophetic storm is building, but the church has not been appointed to spiritual sleep. We are children of the light. We are called to watch, pray, remain sober and proclaim the gospel.

The end time is now.

The trumpet must be sounded.

And God is calling you to become a watchman on the wall.
