How Will We Know the Final Seven Years Have Begun?
What Will Start the Final Seven Years?
For decades, students of Bible prophecy have asked one of the most important questions concerning the end time:
What event will mark the beginning of the final seven years before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?
At Endtime Ministries, we believe the answer is clearly outlined in Scripture. While many theories have circulated over the years—from religious initiatives to geopolitical developments—the Bible points to a specific prophetic event: a Middle East peace agreement involving Israel and the Palestinians.
Understanding this prophecy is crucial because it serves as the starting point for many of the events foretold in Scripture’s final timeline.
Daniel’s 70th Week: The Key Prophecy
The foundation for understanding the final seven years is found in Daniel 9:24-27, one of the most significant prophecies in the Bible.
Daniel was told that “seventy weeks” were determined upon his people and Jerusalem. The term “weeks” in this prophecy refers to periods of seven years. Many modern translations render the passage as “seventy sevens,” representing a total prophetic period of 490 years.
The prophecy unfolds in three distinct segments:
- Seven weeks (49 years)
- Sixty-two weeks (434 years)
- One final week (7 years)
The first 69 weeks culminated with the coming of the Messiah. Daniel prophesied that after this period, the Messiah would be “cut off” and Jerusalem would be destroyed.
History confirms both events:
- Jesus Christ was crucified.
- Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70.
Yet the final seven-year period described in Daniel 9:27 has not occurred. This indicates a prophetic gap between the first 69 weeks and the final week—a gap that has now lasted nearly 2,000 years.
According to Scripture, that gap will end when a specific covenant is confirmed.
The Covenant That Begins the Final Seven Years
Daniel 9:27 states:
“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week.”
At Endtime Ministries, we understand this verse to describe a future peace agreement involving Israel and its neighbors.
The “he” referenced in this passage is the individual later revealed as the Antichrist. While he may not be publicly identified at the moment the agreement is signed, Scripture indicates he will play a significant role in confirming the covenant.
This agreement will not simply be another diplomatic effort. It will contain specific prophetic characteristics that distinguish it from every previous peace proposal.
Five Characteristics of the Coming Peace Agreement
According to our understanding of biblical prophecy, the future agreement will include several key elements:
1. Confirmation of Israel’s Right to Exist
The covenant will affirm Israel’s right to live in the land promised to Abraham and his descendants.
Throughout history, many of Israel’s adversaries have denied this right. The future agreement will provide international recognition and confirmation of Israel’s place in the Promised Land.
2. A Seven-Year Interim Agreement
The covenant will be temporary in nature.
One reason for its temporary status is that Jerusalem’s final political status will remain unresolved, requiring further negotiations in the future.
3. Creation of a Palestinian State
The agreement will include provisions for a Palestinian state in areas commonly referred to as Judea and Samaria, known today as the West Bank.
While many consider such an arrangement politically impossible, biblical prophecy indicates it will eventually occur.
4. A Shared Temple Mount
One of the most disputed pieces of real estate in the world is the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Revelation 11:1-2 depicts a future scenario in which Jewish and Gentile interests coexist on the Temple Mount under a shared arrangement. Such an agreement would create conditions allowing for the rebuilding of a Jewish temple while maintaining Muslim access to portions of the site.
5. The Rebuilding of the Third Temple
Scripture indicates that a Jewish temple must exist during the final seven years.
Revelation 11 describes a temple being measured. Paul also teaches in 2 Thessalonians 2 that the Antichrist will sit in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
Both passages require the existence of a functioning temple before the midpoint of the final seven years.
The Midpoint: The Abomination of Desolation
Three and one-half years into the agreement, a dramatic event will occur.
Daniel prophesied that sacrifices would be stopped and an “abomination of desolation” would take place.
Jesus referenced this event in Matthew 24, warning those living in Judea to flee immediately when they see it occur.
The Apostle Paul provides additional insight, explaining that the Antichrist will enter the temple and exalt himself above all that is called God, declaring himself to be divine.
This act will mark the beginning of the Great Tribulation—the final three and one-half years before Christ’s return.
Why This Matters Today
At Endtime Ministries, we do not study prophecy merely to satisfy curiosity about the future.
We study prophecy because it reveals God’s plan and helps us prepare for the days ahead.
The Bible consistently demonstrates that God declares the end from the beginning. Every fulfilled prophecy—from the coming of Jesus Christ to the rebirth of Israel—strengthens our confidence in the prophecies that remain.
As global leaders continue searching for solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, believers should watch carefully. The peace agreement described in Daniel 9:27 will not be just another diplomatic achievement. It will signal the beginning of the final seven years leading to the Battle of Armageddon and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Watching and Preparing
The prophetic pieces continue to move into place before our eyes.
While no one knows the exact day or hour of Christ’s return, Scripture provides clear markers that help us understand the season in which we live.
The coming peace agreement will be one of the most significant prophetic milestones in human history. When it occurs, the countdown to the culmination of God’s prophetic plan will begin.
Now is the time to understand these prophecies, deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ, and commit yourself to fulfilling God’s purpose in these last days.
As events continue to unfold, Endtime Ministries remains committed to helping believers understand current events through the lens of Bible prophecy and preparing the world for the soon-coming Kingdom of God.
