Tattoos

What does the Bible have to say about Tattoos?

By Irvin Baxter

QUESTION: Jim from Indiana asked, In Leviticus 19:28, it says that you shall not put any cuttings on your flesh for the dead, or any mark upon you. My daughter just got a tattoo, how does this scripture affect her?

ANSWER: I believe the scripture is against tattoos. I believe tattoos are a heathen practice, even though it’s rampant in today’s culture. The Bible speaks against making markings on our skin and she needs to realize that. The Bible says, Thy Word, O Lord, is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path. One reason that sin is so rampant today is because most people don’t even know what sin is anymore, so first thing she needs to realize is that God’s Word teaches that it’s wrong. And then she needs to move to rectify it as much as she can.
