EU Hoping for Better Relations with UK

The arrival of Rishi Sunak in 10 Downing Street has lifted EU hopes of a long-awaited improvement in relations with the UK. Despite Sunak’s record as an unwavering Brexit supporter in 2016, so far, the mood music is promising. In a phone call the day after taking office, Sunak told the European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen, he wanted a “negotiated solution” on the Northern Ireland protocol, part of the post-Brexit agreement.
