God Will Soon Be Forced to Judge America – He Has No Choice

“And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed,” (Luke 17:26-30 NKJV).
From these verses, I have heard sermons preached that life will be “business as usual” until the day the Lord returns as a thief in the night. The ministers were not wrong. Scripture tells us, for many, that is exactly what will happen.
However, I want to focus on the more ominous aspect of this text. Of all the stories in the Old Testament, why did God choose to have Luke use these two to describe the societal conditions that would precede the Lord’s return?
In both instances, even though He loved them, God was forced to judge and then destroy human beings. It was not the fact that they were sinners. If that were the case, God would have destroyed most of the cities in Lot’s day.
No. There was something about the way these two populations of people lived, which forced God to wipe them out except for the righteous. In Noah’s case it was the earth’s entire population but in Lot’s, it was only the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Increased Societal Sin Demands God’s Judgment
What compelled a loving God to slay thousands upon thousands of people? In the days of both Noah and Lot, communal lifestyles became so sinful God was compelled to judge them.
In the Days of Noah:
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them…The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth,” (Genesis 6:5-7 and Genesis 6:11-13).
“And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters,” (Genesis 17:18).
“And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:” (Genesis 17:21).
In the Days of Lot:
“But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly,” (Genesis 13:13).
“And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know,” (Genesis 18:20-21).
“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground,” (Genesis 19:24-25).
According to Luke, just prior to the Second Coming of Jesus, societal conditions will be just as it was in the days of Noah and Lot. Yes, people will be living life as normal. But this is only part of the prophecy.
In the end time, sinful lifestyles will so permeate society, God will have no choice but to judge those who celebrate, participate in and propagate those sins.
Sodom and Gomorrah
The people of Sodom and Gomorrah disregarded God’s definition of a moral lifestyle by yielding to every sexually perverted desire.
“And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment,” (Jude 1:7 NLT).
The prominent sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was the sin of homosexuality. This is where the word sodomy comes from.
In Genesis 18-19, God sent two angels to lead Abraham’s nephew Lot and his family out of Sodom before it was destroyed. The men of the city, being aware that two male guests were visiting Lot, surrounded Lot’s home demanding the men be made available to them for homosexual acts. Lot offered his two virgin daughters to the men, but they refused him, bound by their lustful desires for men. This is how the sin of homosexuality became referred to as sodomy.
How do We Know Homosexuality is a Sin?
God’s moral book the Bible, which we will all be judged by, declares homosexuality is sin.
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them,” (Leviticus 20:13).
So, what was Luke’s prophecy telling us when he states: “But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed,” (Luke 17:29-30).
Just prior to the Second Coming of Jesus, there will be an increase of every anti-God, anti-Bible immoral sexual act in society.
Legalized Sodomy in America
I used to think, “No way! There will never be a time when America will get as bad as Sodom and Gomorrah! Maybe in some far-off country but not here in America.” Boy, have I been proven wrong! We have seen this country do an “about-face” when it comes to Bible-centric lifestyles.
From the early 60s until now, America has taken a moral nose dive. I won’t take time to go into all the events that have gotten us from there to here, but I want you to consider one point of interest. Before the Obama presidency, there were many cracks in the dam, which held back a full onslaught of sexually perverse, non-biblical lifestyles in America. During President Obama’s tenure, the entire dam was removed.
Prior to 1960, it was against the law to commit the act of sodomy in all 50 states. Over time, many things contributed to the dissolving of these laws. However, the crowning achievement was the complete legalization of this act under the Obama administration.
Barack Obama was inaugurated to his first term as President of the United States on January 20, 2009. That same year, at the annual conference of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender), cleverly called the Human Rights Campaign, President Obama was the featured speaker. His remarks were absolutely shocking!
“You will see a time in which we as a nation finally recognize relationships between two men or two women as just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and a woman,” he declared.
On May 9, 2012 President Obama openly endorsed gay marriage when he stated, “I’ve just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.”
Finally, under the Obama administration, same-sex (sodomy) marriage was legalized in every state on June 26, 2015.

This is a direct violation of God’s Word!
God defined marriage as between one man and one woman, all the way back in the Book of Genesis, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh,” (Genesis 2:24).
God also told Moses sodomy was sin in the Old Testament, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination,” (Leviticus 18:22).
Then the Apostle Paul addressed the sin of homosexuality in the New Testament.
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient,” (Romans 1:26-28).
The passage says God gave the ungodly up to “vile affections”. Then the scripture describes what God referred to as vile affections. He said that men “burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly…”
Verse 28 states that people don’t like to retain God in their knowledge because they don’t want to be corrected by Him. The passage says that as a result of this attitude, God turned the homosexual and those that justify homosexuality over to a reprobate mind.
A reprobate mind is one that embraces a lie so strongly until it actually comes to believe that the lie is the truth. An example of this is a person believing two men can be a family. Everybody knows two men can’t have children. It’s impossible! Yet, because people want to justify vile affections and give same-sex relationships a cloak of legitimacy, they close their eyes to truth and say that two men or two women should be married so they can be a family. People who embrace homosexuality according to the Bible, have been turned over to a reprobate mind.
Does anybody think God was not watching when the Supreme Court of the United States of America, under the Obama administration, approved same-sex marriages? I can assure you that He was!
The very actions and vile atmosphere, which caused God to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah have now been legalized and is celebrated in the United States of America. Some have fooled themselves into believing God is not going to judge these actions. He may not today or tomorrow, but He will. He has no choice!
Is America Modern-Day Sodom?
The legalization of same-sex marriage has emboldened the LGBT community to force their lifestyle on the whole of society.
One example would be the anti-discrimination laws to keep Christians from exercising their religious freedoms by not participating in their debauchery.
That’s not all.
Churches are ordaining members of the LGBT community to occupy their pulpits while condoning their sinful lifestyles. Homosexuals are celebrated in parades across the nation during “Pride Month”. Schools are being forced to teach the role and contributions of LGBT people in the history of this country. Transgender men are winning championships participating in women’s sports. There is an LGBT person in just about every sitcom and movie coming out of Hollywood. And now, it is legal (in some states) for a man, who identifies as a woman, to use the ladies’ restrooms and locker rooms. The list goes on and on.
I know this sounds as if I am sensationalizing but I don’t have to. This is reality. This is our America. It is almost unbelievable, until you read the news:
“Rainbow pride flag replaces POW/MIA flag at veteran’s memorial plaza — and public outcry is ignited.”[i]
The flag post at the Montgomery, Alabama Veterans Memorial Plaza, could only accommodate one flag. In order to celebrate “Pride Month”, the POW/MIA flag was removed, and the LGBT rainbow pride flag was raised in its place.
“CA Lawmakers Trying to Force Pastors to Embrace Pro-LGBT Ideology.”[ii]
“The California Family Council reports that Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99 (ACR 99) calls on ‘counselors, pastors, religious workers, educators’ and institutions with ‘great moral influence’ to stop perpetuating the idea that something is wrong with LGBT identities or sexual behavior.”
“Pete Buttigieg says he’s open to raising children in the White House with his husband: ‘It wouldn’t be the first-time children have arrived to a first couple’…”.[iii]
Pete Buttigieg is a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and mayor of South Bend, Indiana. During a recent interview, CNN’s “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper asked Pete if becoming president would affect his plans for a family? Pete replied, “I don’t see why not…I think it wouldn’t be the first-time children have arrived to a first couple.”” However, he added he would like to discuss that with “his husband”, Chasten Buttigieg, off-air.
“California mandates LGBT ‘sensitivity’ for teachers, even when they disagree.”[iv]
“Under a new bill just approved by the state assembly, every junior high and high school teacher would be ordered to undergo training on how to support kids who identify as LGBTQ.”
“Are Democrats trying to be the pro-religion party?”[v]
“(Pete) Buttigieg, an Episcopalian who ‘married his husband’ in his home church, often invokes his faith on the campaign trail and has tangled over values with Vice President Mike Pence, an evangelical Christian.”
“Democrats have long had to walk a tightrope with religious voters, given that their support for abortion and LGBTQ rights…”
The 2020 candidates aren’t shying away from those differences. (Elizabeth) Warren, for example, opposes the United Methodist Church’s prohibition on same-sex marriages and LGBTQ pastors, which has prompted more progressive congregations to weigh a split.
“Jack Phillips faces third lawsuit over refusal to make gender transition cake.”[vi]
Colorado Christian baker, Jack Phillips, is facing his third anti-discrimination lawsuit for refusing to bake a birthday cake, which violates his beliefs.
The cake was to be blue on the outside and pink on the inside, symbolizing a person’s transition from male to female.
“Democrats unanimous as house passes bill forcing schools to let male athletes compete in girls’ sports.”[vii]
The Democratically controlled House of Representatives voted Friday (May 17) 236-173 in favor of the Equality Act, which would require schools to include male athletes who identify as transgender girls on female sports teams.
“‘You can’t win without gay players,’ says USA’s World Cup hero Megan Rapinoe.”[viii]
After the 2-1 quarter-final victory over France, “…when asked to comment on whether it being Pride month made her contribution more personally significant, Megan Rapinoe (U.S. women’s national soccer team) replied, ‘Go gays!’ ‘You can’t win a championship without gays on your team – it’s never been done before, ever. That’s science, right there!’”
“‘My Little Pony’ to Introduce a Lesbian Couple This Weekend.”[ix]
“A new episode of “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (a cartoon) set to air this weekend (June 15-16) will introduce a same-sex couple onto the popular children’s program.”
“LaBarbera: Drag Queen Story Hour is ‘Indoctrination’ of Children Into LGBTQ Culture.”[x]
“The spreading practice of men dressed in drag reading to very young children in public libraries—and in some Barnes & Noble book stores—is a way to ‘indoctrinate’ kids into the LGBTQ world and imprint ‘perversion’ in their young minds, said Peter LaBarbera, founder and president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality.”
“Disney makes history with its first-ever Pride Parade.”[xi]
“Disney had its first-ever in-park Pride festival. Called ‘Magical Pride’, Disneyland Paris created a parade with sister property Walt Disney Studios Park.”
“Taylor Swift releases pro-LGBT single You Need to Calm Down.”[xii]
“Taylor Swift’s fans have praised her for releasing a pro-LGBT single…”
“The single comes after Swift broke a long-held silence on political matters earlier this month to urge listeners to send letters to their senators calling for them to back a pro-LGBT law in the U.S. called the Equality Act.”
“The act would introduce laws to protect the LGBT community, by adding sexual orientation and gender identity as outlawed forms of discrimination.”
“Transgender woman uses restroom at same time as his wife, so ‘upset’ husband calls police. Then he’s allegedly spit at and cursed out.”[xiii]
“Patron David Short apparently wasn’t too happy that a transgender woman was using the restroom at the same time as his wife — and so Short called police…”
“Officer S.M. Hill arrived at the scene and told Short that under North Carolina House Bill 142 the transgender woman in question was allowed to use the restroom…current state legislation got rid of the controversial 2016 rule that required public restroom use corresponding to birth gender.”
“Where Christian churches, other religions stand on gay marriage.”[xiv]
As of December 2015, major religions sanctioning same-sex marriage were the Consecutive Jewish Movement, Episcopal Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Presbyterian Church (USA), Reform Jewish Movement, Society of Friends (Quaker), Unitarian Universalist Association of Churches and the United Church of Christ.
Currently, other denominations are struggling with condoning these lifestyles as well.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. However, I think you get the point. There is a very recognizable increase of LGBT activity in America. They may only be a small percentage of the population, but they are not ashamed to push their agenda.
Is this the future of America? Will Christians be intimidated into silence and allow America to become another Sodom—forcing God to judge us? If we continue the present course, He will have no choice.
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to end like that—not if America will get back to what made it great in the first place.
Can America Regain Her Greatness?
More than 100 years ago, Alexis de Tocqueville, a famous French political philosopher who authored the now famous Democracy in America, visited our nation to uncover the secret of our greatness. He traveled from town to town talking with people, asking questions, and examining every facet of our society.
Returning to France, he wrote these amazing words, “I sought for America’s greatness. I found it not in her fields and forests. I found it not in her mines and factories. I found it not in her Congress and great tribunals.”
“It was only when I entered her churches and heard her pulpits thundering against sin and preaching righteousness that I discovered the secret of her greatness.” Then he added, “America is great because America is good. If America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”
De Tocqueville’s conclusion agrees with the Bible. Proverbs 14·34 says, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Is There Any Hope?
Will America follow the path of the Roman Empire, decaying and finally collapsing from within? Or can America pull back from the brink of total moral collapse, rediscovering those principles that originally made America the greatest nation on earth?
There is precedent in history for a nation to recover after teetering on the brink of spiritual bankruptcy. When revolution was sweeping through Europe in the late 18th century, the same societal conditions that gave birth to the French Revolution were coursing through Great Britain.
Morally, the country was becoming increasingly decadent. Drunkenness was rampant; gambling was so extensive that one historian described England as one vast casino. Bishop Berkeley wrote that morality and religion in Britain had collapsed to a degree that was never known in any Christian country.
It was in this atmosphere George Whitfield and John Wesley began to preach in the streets of England. Their red-hot preaching ignited the dry thirsty hearts of the people.
The ensuing revival cut across denominational lines and touched every class of society. England itself was transformed by the revival. ln 1928 Archbishop Davidson wrote, “Wesley practically changed the outlook and even the character of the English nation.”
Some historians have maintained that the revival so altered the course of English history that it probably saved England from a major revolution.
Could it Happen in America?
lf spiritual revival could come to England at the time of its worst moral depravity, surely it could happen in the United States.
All is not lost! We can win this battle against the floodtide of moral decay. And we must!
By now it is obvious that the needed spiritual leadership will not come from our political leaders. Where then can we look for leadership?
Are there any true men of God left? Are they all just trying to produce the biggest congregations? Are there any left that are not for sale—who will preach the whole Bible, even if it cost them their lives?
If there are any out there, it’s time to stand up now! Tomorrow will be too late!
Preachers, You are America’s Only Hope!
Pray your hearts hot! Preach with conviction and compassion! The people that love the truth are longing to hear it. They are so disillusioned with rampant religious prostitution!
I know some don’t want to hear; but the ones that matter, the ones who love the truth are starving for true men of God who will set the trumpet to their lips.
When the final history of America is written, will it record the destruction of a people who did not like to retain God in their knowledge? Will it speak of a people that apologized for acknowledging God and making Him the center of our nation? Or will our history tell about the spiritual awakening that swept the “One nation, under God.” Will it tell of the nation that refused to remove “In God We Trust” from its money? Will it speak of a nation that was willing to speak the truth in love? Sodomy was wrong in the Old Testament. It was wrong in the New Testament. And, it is wrong in the 21st century.
The Answer
Our only answer is a genuine spiritual revival. When America embraces the Bible as the Word of God once again and we recognize our extreme need of Jesus Christ in all our lives, He will help us turn this country around!
What can We Do?
Looking back over the history of this great nation, it should be easy to see what is needed. America must have a spiritual revival. This can be achieved in a few simple steps:
America needs to go back to church (only approximately 20% attend weekly).
We need to become a prayerful nation—at home, in our schools, courthouses and government institutions.
Preachers need to preach the Bible without compromise. If you see sin creeping into your church, don’t be ashamed or intimidated. Preach against it!
Congress needs to reinstitute the Bible as the standard on which we base our laws and stop relying on Hollywood to set our moral compass.
We should revise our textbooks to adhere to biblical teachings, such as creation…not evolution.
Each of us should vote to elect politicians based on their Christian character and biblical positions on issues.
America is at an historic crossroads right now.
We need as much Jesus in our lives and in our American society as possible.
We need a revival of the name of Jesus in America!
God Delivered the Righteous
If you will notice in the stories of the flood and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, God judged the sinner, but He also saved the righteous.
Does Luke’s prophecy mean all is lost for those who are living in the LGBT lifestyle? No!
God loves all sinners regardless of what they have done. God died for homosexuals just like everyone else. However, just like every other sinner, they will need to be born again and come out of their sinful lifestyles. If not, they will be lost for eternity.
The Apostle Paul preached hope to the LGBT community, if they would be born again.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God,” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, NKJV).
Notice the term, “And such were some of you…” There is hope for every sinner, and we are believing for a great revival in America!
In the end time, God will reward the saint and judge the sinner—just as He did in the days of Noah and Lot. He has no choice…
