The Ram and the He-Goat: Daniel’s Prophetic Vision Explained

Male announcer: Previously
on “The Endtime Show.”
Dave Robbins: So this is easy to
understand and God tells us in
plain language the identity of
the ram and the he-goat, the ram
with two horns and the
he-goat in Daniel chapter 8.
This vision was given during the
time of Belshazzar’s reign, yet
it foretells which kingdom is
going to replace the kingdom of
Babylon, and it was the last day
of Belshazzar’s reign when the
Medes and the Persians came
and conquered Babylon.

Dave: Okay, so we’re diving back
into the book of Daniel here,
and we’ve been through
Daniel chapter 8, verse 22.
And we know that it’s the–it
says, you know, “Now that being
broken, whereas four stood up
for it, four kingdoms shall
stand up out of the nation,
but not in his own power.”
So what it’s talking about here,
when Alexander the Great passed
away, his kingdom was
divided into four regions.
And there were four kings that
came up, and these four generals
replaced Alexander the
Great after his death.
But then we go to Daniel chapter
8, verse 23 through 24, and
we’re gonna get to the
Great Tribulation.
So remember, what–this
prophecy is going to span well
over a thousand years.
Well, it actually be
well over 2000 years.
And so, when we go to Daniel 8,
verse 23 through 24, it says:
“And in the latter days of their
kingdom, when the transgressors
are come to the full, a king
of fierce countenance, and
understanding dark
sentences, shall stand up.
And his power shall be mighty,
but not by his own power: and he
shall destroy wonderfully, and
shall prosper, and practise, and
shall destroy the mighty
and the holy people.”
Now, we’ve jumped from Alexander
the Great, think about this, to
all the way to the end, right
here at the Great Tribulation.
So this passage is a prophecy
about the Great Tribulation and
the Antichrist, who will destroy
the mighty and holy people.
Revelation chapter 12, verse
3 through 4 reveals what the
stars represent.
Remember, we talked
about stars earlier.
It says: “And there appeared
another wonder in heaven; and
behold a great red dragon,
having seven heads and
ten horns.”
Again, think about this.
If you do not understand Daniel
2 and Daniel 7, it would be
absolutely impossible to
understand the ten horns
in Revelation.
You’re gonna be completely–
just hit a block wall.
But once you understand Daniel,
then it’s the key that unlocks
the book of Revelation.
I have friends of mine that
will say, “I can’t–I don’t
understand the–all of these
beasts and symbolism and all the
stuff in Revelation.”
And so they hardly ever,
if ever, teach from it.
And that might be good because
sometimes you can really mess
stuff up, right?
And that’s why we–that’s
probably why I do so many
prophecy conferences and people
follow us, which is fine,
because I don’t claim to be
an expert on everything.
However, the–when you look at
these, when we go through
Revelation 12 here, it says:
“And there appeared another
wonder in heaven; and behold a
great red dragon, having seven
heads and ten horns, and
seven crowns upon his head.
And his tail drew the third part
of the stars from heaven, and
did cast them into the earth:
and the dragon stood before the
woman which was ready to be
devoured for to devour her child
as soon as it was born.”
So the passage shows that when
Satan rebelled against God, this
is three and one half years
prior to the Great Tribulation,
and took 1/3 of the
angels with him.
The angels are referred to
in this verse as stars.
Now, the–I’m sorry, the
war in heaven takes place.
Satan–there’s already been
angels that have been–that are
backslid as well as Satan is.
But then we come to the war in
heaven, Revelation 12, verse 7
through 9.
It continues by saying,
“And there was a war in
heaven: Michael and his angels
fought against the dragon; and
the dragon fought and his
angels, And prevailed not;
neither was their place
found any more in heaven.
And the dragon was cast out,
that old serpent, called the
Devil, and Satan, which
deceiveth the whole world: he
was cast out into the earth,
and his angels were cast out
with him.”
So, early on you see a vision
here in Revelation 12 where
there’s this dragon, seven
heads and ten horns.
And it lets us know when you see
seven-headed, ten-horned beast
in Revelation 13 that the
endtime world-governing body
which Satan gives its power,
seat, and great authority to is
made in the image–remember,
this is symbolism,
is made in the image
of its father, Satan.
And so it talks about, early on
in Revelation chapter 12, where
Satan rebelled and took a third
part of the angels with him,
the stars.
And that happened
early on in history.
Then when you come to the war in
heaven, the war in heaven takes
place three and a half years
prior to the Great Tribulation.
So Revelation 12 describes
this future war in heaven.
I know a lot of people believe
that it happened back in the
Garden or sometime in the
beginning, but the rebellion
happened–the Bible says that
Satan, you were in the Garden
until iniquity was found in you.
The rebellion happened early on
in the–in time, but the war in
heaven happens three and
one half years prior to the
Great Tribulation.
So, it’s very important we
understand that because, as you
read down through Revelation 12,
you’re–there’s gonna be a huge
leap there from when the dragon
was there to destroy the child
that was birthed by the woman,
which was Jesus Christ.
And you remember where King
Herod tried to kill Jesus when
he was in Bethlehem or the
Messiah or the King that was
born, Herod tried to kill him?
That was Satan’s plot.
So then you jump from that all
the way to three and a half
years prior to the
Great Tribulation.
So you’re making, like, almost a
2000-year leap here in–between
these verses.
So you got to understand where
the leap happens, and those leap
in between–from verse to
verse, those happen many times
throughout Bible prophecy.
And so, but you–and you got to
know where those transitions
are or you’re gonna be really
messed up when you try to figure
some of this stuff out.
So, again, Revelation 12
describes this future war in
heaven occurring three and
one half years before the Battle
of Armageddon and the Second
Coming of Jesus Christ.
So in this final act of
defiance, Satan attempts to
overthrow God, knowing that his
time is short before he’s being
cast into the bottomless pit,
and Michael and the angels
battle Satan in the heavens.
It’s a spiritual battle, and
they ultimately defeat them.
And as punishment, Satan and his
angels are expelled from heaven
and confined to the earth.
Now, I know that, you know, a
lot of people have said–well,
you know, we–the Bible teaches
us that Satan still has access
to heaven.
There’s a lot of people that
say, “Oh no, Satan doesn’t have
access to heaven,
that’s not possible.”
Consider the book of Job.
The Bible says the sons of God
appeared before God to give an
account, and Satan
was with them.
So Satan still has access to
heaven, but when this war in
heaven happens in the future,
he’s gonna be bound to
the earth.
And this event, it’s still
future, as the chapter’s context
places it just before
Christ’s return.
So Satan is cast out into the
earth in Revelation 12, verse 12
through 14.
And in Revelation 12:12 it says:
“Therefore rejoice, ye that are
in heaven, and ye
that dwell in them.
But woe to the inhabiters of
the earth and to the sea!
for the devil is come down unto
you, having great wrath, because
he knows that he hath
but a short time.
And when the dragon saw that
he was cast unto the earth, he
persecuted the woman,” which in
that chapter is Israel, “which
brought forth the man child.
And to the woman were given two
wings of a great eagle, that she
might fly into the wilderness,
into her place, where she is
nourished for a time, times, and
half a time, from the face of
the serpent.”
So in Revelation 12, the woman
symbolizes Israel, who will be
persecuted by Satan for a time,
times, and half a time, a span
of three and a half years.
That’s the Great Tribulation.
This period begins when Satan is
cast out of heaven, triggering
the Great Tribulation.
So at present, Satan still has
access to heaven as the accuser
of the brethren.
But once he’s banished, Satan
unleashes his wrath on earth.
However, Israel will be divinely
protected throughout this time
and symbolically nourished by
the wings of a great eagle.
In Bible prophecy, we’ve went
over this, I think it may have
been on our last session, in
Bible prophecy, the eagle
represents the United States,
Israel’s strongest ally known
for using its UN veto
power to defend Israel.
And the US will oppose the
Antichrist world government
during this time.
And while many believe in a
seven-year tribulation,
scripture never states that.
The actual Great Tribulation
last only three and one half
years, beginning with the
abomination of desolation when
Satan is cast from heaven,
though Daniel’s 70th week spans
seven years, six specific verses
confirm the Great Tribulation
itself lasts half of that time.
Now, when we get back to Daniel
chapter 8, verse 25, we’re going
into the Antichrist here,
because it says: “And through
his policy.”
Now, we’re talking about–we
started out with Alexander the
Great, and then he passes away,
then we go into four different
kingdoms and the Bible says this
last little horn will come up
among one of those
four kingdoms.
Now, some people would say, “Oh,
he’s coming from Syria, he’s
coming from Egypt, he’s
coming from the Middle East.”
No, I–and I get it.
But the thing is, you have to
understand, those–the kingdoms
then and what they all turned
into and then you have to
understand other prophecies,
because if you just go to this,
I’ve had people say, “Well, no,
he’s coming out of the Middle
East region,” and
things like that.
But if you understand the
rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire
and the chapter just before this
that says the little horn comes
up among the ten horns, uproots
three of them, becomes great,
has a mouth speaking great
things, that’s the Antichrist,
then you’re not gonna go
over one chapter and it
contradicts that.
And the ten horns are the Holy
Roman Empire, which is the
current European Union.
So it lets us know that the
Antichrist will come out of the
European Union, the current
European Union in the endtime,
not the Middle East, not
Egypt, or any other place like
that, okay?
It’s–that’s very, very, very
critical because you’re gonna be
stuck, you’re gonna be looking
for the Antichrist to come
somewhere out of the Middle East
somewhere and that’s not what
scripture says.
So when we go to Daniel 8:25, it
says: “And through his policy,”
talking about the Antichrist
here, “also he shall cause craft
to prosper in his hand; and he
shall magnify himself in his
heart, and by peace shall
destroy many: he shall also
stand up against the Prince of
princes; but he shall be broken
without hand.”
Wow, this is some–this is
awesome prophecy teaching
because it’s the book of Daniel,
the most salient book, prophecy
book, in the Bible.
And so certainly want to
take our time, walk down
through here.
There’s still a lot to go in
this session because there’s so
much packed into
this prophecy here.
We’re talking about the
Antichrist now that will come to
power in just the
very near future.

Dave: There’s about 50
prophecies, I think it’s 52 or
53 prophecies, concerning
the Antichrist.
So God wanted–certainly
wanted to let us know who this
individual is, when he’s
coming on the scene, how to
recognize him.
And the Bible says he’s gonna–
that everyone whose name is not
written in the Lamb’s
book of life will worship
this individual.
And so God is letting us know,
“Hey, here he–this is what he’s
gonna do, this is what his
characteristics are, this is
when he comes on the scene, and
so don’t worship him, don’t
follow him, don’t bow
down to his edicts.”
And it’s certainly something–
I’m so thankful to God that he
didn’t just leave us hanging
out here on nothing, wondering
what’s going on.
God specifically showed us
these things that are coming.
And so the Bible says in many
places he’s gonna come on a
platform of peace and
flatteries, and that’s
the thing.
Not everyone who says they
want peace is a good person.
The Antichrist will promote
himself as a peacemaker.
Now, in Daniel chapter 9, the
Bible says he will confirm the
covenant with many for a
final seven-year period.
It’s Daniel’s 70th week.
So he’s gonna–the world
is gonna see him as this
great peacemaker.
You got peace between the
Israelis and the Palestinians
when nobody else could, the
great peacemaker, and there will
be people that recognize him
eventually as the coming of
their Messiah figure.
And–but you’ve
got to make sure.
I don’t ever–I will never
look at him like that.
The Bible says Jesus said in
Matthew 24, if they say that an
individual is out here in the
desert or if he’s in this–over
here and in this region, or–
no, because he says that the
lightning flashes from the east
as to the west, that’s what it’s
gonna be like when the
Son of Man appears.
And so there–I’ll never look
to a human figure as a Messiah.
That’s one thing you want to
caution yourself against.
No, never.
You say, “Well, Dave,
nobody would ever do that.”
Oh yes, they would,
I promise you.
It’s happening right now.
There have been people that have
claimed to be the Messiah or a
representative of Jesus Christ
on the earth, and people follow
them and worship them.
I’ve seen it over and over.
And so that–that’s
something we cannot do.
I’ll never worship a human being
or an idol or a statue, none
of that.
I only worship God
Almighty, that’s it.
“Hear, O Israel, the Lord
our God is one Lord.
Him only shalt thou serve.”
So, we’ll talk about the little
horn and the Antichrist in many
future lessons, but the little
horn that comes out from among
these four divisions, which were
created after the death of
Alexander the Great,
he will become great
and eventually become
the Antichrist.
He’s gonna make war
against the saints.
The Bible tells us that over and
over again, and this is gonna be
the Great Tribulation, but
he will be destroyed at the
brightness of the Second
Coming of Jesus Christ.
And the Bible tells us that
in Revelation chapter 17.
Talks about the Antichrist and
the ten horns, the ten kings,
that he has surrounded himself,
that pledge allegiance to him,
that they will actually fight
against Jesus Christ when he
comes, and of course that’s
gonna be a futile effort because
he’s gonna defeat them because
he is King of kings and Lord of
lords and there’s
no competition.
But the apostle Paul here,
something I wanted to mention,
he gives another description
of the Antichrist in
2 Thessalonians
chapter 2, verse 4.
The Bible says: “Who opposeth
and exalteth himself above all
that is called God, or that is
worshiped; so that he as God
sits in the temple of God,
shewing himself that he is God.”
So both the Old Testament and
the New Testament teach the
Antichrist will exalt himself
and actually sit in the temple
of God, claiming to be God.
So this event called the
abomination of desolation,
when and it–and that’s what
it’s called and when this–when
it happens, this event triggers
the Great Tribulation.
Jesus taught in Matthew
24:15 through 17: “When ye
therefore shall see the
abomination of desolation,
spoken of by Daniel the
prophet,” it’s–this would be
Daniel 9:27, “stand in the
holy place, (whoso readeth,
let him understand:)
Then let them which be in Judea
flee into the mountains: Let him
which is on the housetop,” don’t
go back down into the house to
get your stuff.
Get out of your house and run.
So the abomination marks the
start of the Great Tribulation
and it coincides with
the war in heaven.
If I was walking you through a
timeline here, these two events
would happen simultaneously
right there, halfway through
that final seven-year period
when Satan is cast to the earth
and not–no more access
to heaven at that point.
Some believe Satan will
personally possess the
Antichrist at this point.
The Bible says in Revelation 13
that the dragon or Satan gives
the Antichrist and this
world-governing power his seat,
power, and great authority.
Effectively, Satan is gonna
use the Antichrist to achieve
his goals.
And with the Great Tribulation,
it’s gonna be the Antichrist and
the false prophet carrying
out the Great Tribulation.
The Bible says the Antichrist
makes war against the saints,
but the Bible in Revelation 12
says that the dragon comes down,
having great wrath, and he
persecutes the woman and those
that have the testimony of Jesus
Christ, which is the true church
of Jesus Christ on the earth.
The Antichrist will be carrying
out the will of Satan in
the earth.
Think about that.
Some would say, “Well, this
can’t be definitively proven
that the–that Satan will
inhabit the Antichrist
specifically,” but it’s a very
strong possibility, wouldn’t
you say?
And–but regardless, Satan’s
attempt to rule the world
through the Antichrist
will ultimately fail
because he’s gonna be–he will
be–the Bible says he will be
broken out of hand–or, “Broken
without hand,” I think it says.
So Matthew 3, verse 12 refers to
the cleansing of the sanctuary
after 2300 days.
It says: “Whose fan is in his
hand, and he will thoroughly
purge his floor, and gather his
wheat into the garner; but he
will burn up the chaff
with unquenchable fire.”
So this passage refers to the
two harvests in Matthew 13,
which describes the two
simultaneous harvests of the
wheat and the tares.
Now, I’ve got to tell you, we
have personally been unable to
figure out the details of
the 2300 days timeframe.
However, we’ve determined that
the sanctuary will be cleansed
after 2300 days and also
when Jesus returns.
Now, this is not a critical
point for us at this time
because if you understand
the timeline that–then you
get it all.
The 2300 days is something that
has eluded our knowledge at
this point.
And some people think they got
it figured out, but I’ve read
through some of their stuff
and I thought, “Yikes, I don’t
know,” you know, and I’m not
sure that anybody has it totally
figured out.
I’m sure before it’s all over
with, we’ll probably know, but
at this point I’m not sure I
can put my finger on it, and I
know a lot of others that have
tried as well, and simply, you
know, we just don’t
know at this point.
I’m sure at some
point that we will.
But to–for a conclusion here
of Daniel chapter 8, Daniel 8,
verses 26 through 27, it
reveals, “And the vision of the
evening and the morning which
was told is true: wherefore shut
thou up the vision; for it
shall be for many days.
And I Daniel fainted, and was
sick certain days; afterward I
rose up, and did the king’s
business; and I was astonished
at the vision, but
none understood it.”
Now, it doesn’t mean anybody
will–nobody will ever
understand it, but
at that time we didn’t.
Daniel went to the grave not
understanding most of his
own prophecies.
And there’s no way
that he could.
I mean, some of them were
for thousands of years in
the future.
None have been–so in Daniel
chapter 2, the nations that the
beasts symbolize that would be
on the earth when the ancient of
days or Jesus Christ comes to
establish his kingdom, not one
of those nations was on the
earth back when Daniel was here.
And so there’s–it would
have been impossible.
God would have had to have
said, “Daniel, these are future
nations that is the United
States and Great Britain and
Russia and Germany,” but God,
he–Daniel just went to his
grave and didn’t
understand those things.
God gave him prophecies for us,
and they were not to be
understood until the end time.
This is very important when
you’re trying–when you’re
looking at the book of Daniel.
Daniel chapter 12 is the last
chapter in the book of Daniel,
and we’ll get there eventually
as we go through here.
And in Daniel chapter 12, verse
9, you find Daniel praying to
understand his own writings.
When’s all this stuff gonna come
to pass and, you know, how’s all
this stuff gonna wrap up?
But the Lord said no.
And you know, don’t you love
it when you’re praying about
something and the Lord says no?
The Bible says: “For we know
that all things work together
for good to them that love the
Lord and are called according to
his purpose,” right?
So sometimes a no is the
best answer you can get.
But of course, sometimes we
still don’t like it, right?
But we need to realize that a
no is just as good as a yes.
And God only tells us no
when it’s not good for us.
He loves us and it’s his good
pleasure to give his children
the kingdom, but sometimes
he’s got to tell you no.
You–when you tell your
children no sometimes, you know
you love them, but they just–
no, I can’t–no, we can’t
do that.
But if he says no, don’t argue,
just accept it because he’s
looking out for your good.
“All things work together for
good to them that love the Lord
and are called according
to his purpose.”
So Daniel asked the Lord in
Daniel chapter 12, verse 9,
“Lord, what’s all this mean?”
And the Lord said, “Nope,
Daniel, go thy way, Daniel: for
the words are closed up and
sealed till the time of
the end.”
Many prophecies are being
understood right now that have
never been understood before,
and it’s not because we’re more
intelligent or that
we’re more spiritual.
There are many great men and
women of God that have come
before us.
It’s because God made a
sovereign decision 2500 years
ago that he would reserve the
unfolding of endtime prophecy
for the endtime generation.
And I believe God did this
to generate one last great
endtime revival.
Man, aren’t you guys excited
about the book of Daniel?
What a magnificent book,
and I’m so thankful.
I look at the book of Daniel
as a key, because the book of
Daniel unlocks many
other prophecies.
And you couldn’t understand the
abomination of desolation and
many of the beasts in Revelation
and all these different
prophecies, the seven-headed,
ten-horned beast, many of them
in Revelation and some of the
other chapters of the Bible,
without understanding
Daniel first.
So, so thankful that God has
helped us to understand some of
these things so we can
reveal it to other people.
God bless you and thank
you for joining me today.
Dave: Many people argue America
is not mentioned in the
prophecies of the Bible.
But they will miss so much about
the coming events that will
happen in the endtime if they
don’t get that understanding.
What do these beasts symbolize?
That’s what we need to answer
because if we can’t understand
what these beasts symbolize,
there’s no point in even
studying this, right?
If you don’t believe that
America is mentioned in the
Bible, you’re gonna be stuck
when it comes to figuring out
all these prophecies, but once
you understand this, America has
a prophesied future.
It’s given to us in the Bible.
And America will not be part of
the world government, but we’re
gonna be protecting Israel
against the world government all
the way to the Second
Coming of Jesus Christ.
