Taliban and Afghan Forces Clash Again
Afghan government forces struggled against Taliban assaults on several major cities as the insurgents stepped up a nationwide offensive.
Fighting has surged across the country since early May when US-led foreign forces began a final withdrawal from Afghanistan. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) took issue with the Taliban, demanding the insurgents “provide answers” for the rocket attack on its office in Herat that killed an Afghan guard.
