Treasury Secretary Jeered for Saying ‘No Administration Has Done More for Israel’s Security’

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew was booed Sunday at the Jerusalem Post’s annual conference in New York City when he said President Barack Obama and his administration has done more than any of his predecessors to advance the security of Israel.

“The simple fact is this: No administration has done more for Israel’s security than this one,” Lew said. “Under President Obama, and with the support of Congress, America has provided $20 billion in military support to Israel.”

The crowed repeatedly heckled Lew as he tried to lay out the case that brokering an agreement with Iran is the only way to prevent the Islamic theocracy from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

“We recognize that the threats to the state of Israel’s existence today are real. They are complex, and they must be taken seriously,” Lew, the first orthodox Jew to hold the highest post at Treasury, said on Sunday. “That is why the Obama administration has done so much over the past six years to advance Israel’s security.”
