Secret Likud, Blue and White meeting raises unity hopes

Negotiations between Likud and Blue and White on a national-unity government began in earnest on Monday with a secret meeting that raised optimism an agreement between the two sides could be reached to end the political stalemate.

The meeting took place in the morning before Blue and White leader Benny Gantz officially received the mandate to form a government from President Reuven Rivlin at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. That the meeting was not publicized and there were no briefings afterward was seen as a sign of progress.

All both sides would say was that the gaps were not wide, an apparent reference to negotiations over portfolios and the length of the rotation in the Prime Minister’s Office between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuand Gantz.

Shas leader Arye Deri, who acts as a political adviser to Netanyahu, met with Blue and White MK Gabi Ashkenazi in another channel that could bear fruit.

      Hello Patricia,

The Virus hit Israel before it hit here. They are having a hard time containing it as we are here in the US. You can see more information about it at the Jerusalem Post web site.

  1. I researched Benny Gantz…his mother was born in Israel…his father born in Romania…the article said Romania was part of the Roman Empire. I’m just curious if he could maybe be the anti-Christ? Also, if Gantz makes changes to the peace deal and everyone agrees to the changes. Would t it then become Gantz’s peace deal?

I’ve been and will continue to pray for PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who I believe is the best leader Israel has had in a long time. He is a friend to American and I can not understand the differences the Likud and Blue & White parties have.

      Hello Antonio,
That is a very good question. In the past Gantz has said he would agree to the Deal of the Century/Peace Deal. We will just have to wait and see what happens with the forming of the Government.
