Scared Israelis look for ways to defend themselves amid terror

As parents seek to calm children’s fears, Israelis increasingly turn to firepower for personal protection

 

As violent stabbing attacks against Israelis in Jerusalem and other parts of Israel show no sign of letting up, children and parents are learning to cope with a new reality of fear and uncertainty.

 

One of the students who attends the Teddy Kollek school in northern Jerusalem, was seriously injured in a stabbing attack while riding his bike on Monday. Ever since news of the attack against the 13-year-old boy broke, pupils, parents and teachers at the school have been finding it difficult to get back into a routine.

 

Parents told Israeli news website Ynet that their children have been going to school armed with pepper spray.
