Macron Visits Russia To De-Escalate Ukraine Tensions, Says Russian National Security Concerns Are ‘Legitimate’

French President Emmanuel Macron is traveling to Moscow on Monday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to reduce tensions with Ukraine. According to Macron, he believes that a deal that would prevent full-scale war is on the table, and that it is legitimate for Russia to raise concerns regarding its national security.

In an interview with the French weekly Journal du Dimanche, Macron downplayed the notion that Putin is looking to invade Ukraine.
