Iran’s Supreme Leader Discusses Nuke Deal With U.S.: ‘They Are Our Enemies’

In a speech delivered Aug. 27 at a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian cabinet, Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, discussed the negotiations that led to the not-yet-approved nuclear agreement with the United States and five other nations.

 

Khamenei said concluding the negotiations was an “important achievement,” but then said Israel—which he called “the fake and usurping Zionist regime”—and the United States were “our enemies.”

 

“The Zionist regime shows enmity towards us for one reason and the Americans do so for another, but they show the same amount of enmity towards us,” the ayatollah said. “They are our enemies and their enmity has not decreased.”

 

“Each and every official should pay attention that we should not play the game that the enemy has created,” he said.
