EU, Turkey coming closer to completing agreement

European Council President Donald Tusk told Bild that the EU is moving forward in its efforts to allow Turkish citizens to enter without obtaining a prior visa.

 

“The negotiations will certainly last until October but we’re getting ever closer,” he said, after insisting that the EU will not give in until “they have fulfilled all of the conditions without exception.”

 

In exchange for freer travel, Turkey is required to limit the number of refugees entering Europe and limit its anti-terror laws. Ankara, however, insists that it needs strict laws in order to stop the numerous threats to its security.
