Benjamin Netanyahu: Shana Tova from Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wished the world a “Shana Tova,” [a happy new year], in a video message from his residence in Jerusalem on Sunday.

Netanyahu opened the short clip saying, “Shana tova to all of you from our eternal capital, Jerusalem.”

“Since last Rosh Hashana it has become evident to all but the bigoted and prejudiced that Israel stands out like a beacon of progress, of modernity, of democracy and of human rights in a region plagued by fanaticism, by terror, by unbelievable savagery,” he continued.

Netanyahu said that it is Israel’s responsibility, as the only democracy in the Middle East, to repel those who slander the Jewish State.

“We are united, proud of our past, confident of our future,” he said.

He called on people around the world to join together with Israel and the Jewish people in “wishing for a better future for the world, for the Middle East, and most importantly for the one and only Jewish state.”
