Should We Pay Tithes?

In regards to tithing, the Bible teaches in Malachi 3:8 that we can rob God in our tithes and offerings. The word “tithe” actually means the tenth.  We also find that Jacob, in Genesis 28:22, told God that everything God would give him; he would give God back the tenth part of it. So we find that even before the law was instituted, the example of giving God the tenth of what he gives us. Jesus also told the scribes and Pharisees that they did right by tithing and that they should tithe in Matthew 23:23. Jesus just told them that they should not neglect the other things such as judgment, mercy, and faith. There are many other scriptures that speak of tithing such as Genesis 14:20, Hebrews 7:5-10, Leviticus 27:30, Numbers 18:21, 26, Deuteronomy 14:22, 24, 2 Chronicles 31:5, Nehemiah 10:37, and Proverbs 3:9. Many other places in scripture show that we should give and reveal to us the blessings that come with giving such as Luke 6:38. In conclusion, yes, we should pay tithes and be joyful in our giving.
