A Covenant with the Jews

How do we know a covenant will occur with the Jews?

QUESTION: David from Vermont asked in regards to Daniel 9 where it states that he will make a covenant with many for one week; how do we know he’s talking about the Jewish people? It doesn’t necessarily say that he’s making a covenant with the Jews.

ANSWER: Studying the entire context of that prophecy will help answer your question. In the passage it says that he will confirm the covenant with many for seven years, and then halfway through the seven years he is going to cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. Well in order for there to be sacrifice and oblation, which does not exist today, there has to be a temple. In Revelation 11:1-2 John was told to measure the temple but not to measure the outer court because it will be trodden down by the gentiles for the next 42 months, which means there will be a temple built before the final 42 months. Then in 2 Thessalonians 2 it says the Antichrist will stand in the temple of God, claiming to be God, and from many other passages we can prove that this is in fact the Abomination of Desolation — which will occur halfway through the final seven years.
