Children of the Day

What Does it Mean to be Children of the Day?

By Irvin Baxter

Question: Dennis from Michigan wanted to ask Irvin about a certain scripture, “What does the Bible mean when it says that we are not children of the night but children of the day?

Answer: You are talking about I Thessalonians chapter 5, and the apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonicans and said, “Brethren you know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. But we are not children of the night that that day should overtake us unawares, we are children of the day.” Paul explicitly said, yes the day of the Lord is coming as thief in the night but only to those who live in darkness, not to those who walk in spiritual light. Meaning that those who walk in spiritual light won’t be surprised at the coming of the Lord.
