“November 3, 2009”

One of the five greatest prophetic fulfillments in 2,000 years!

Think of it! You and I have just witnessed one of the five greatest prophetic fulfillments in the last 2,000 years! It happened on November 3, 2009. Yet most people totally missed it! What happened on November 3rd, and why was it such an important fulfillment of Bible prophecy?

The Bible prophesies that the Holy Roman Empire will be reborn just before the second coming of Christ, and that the Antichrist and the False Prophet will come out of this reborn Holy Roman Empire. The Holy Roman Empire was officially reborn on November 3, 2009!

The prophecy is given several times in scripture, each time in a different way. The first time the existence of the Holy Roman Empire at the time of the second coming is foretold occurs in Daniel 2:31-45. In this passage, Nebuchadnezzar, king of the Babylonian empire, had a dream. The Jewish Prophet, Daniel, was summoned to the palace to reveal the dream and to explain its meaning.

In the dream, Nebuchadnezzar saw a great statue with a head of gold, arms and breasts of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and feet of iron mingled with clay. At the end of the dream, a stone was cut out of the mountain, but not by human hands. This stone smote the statue upon the feet that were of iron and clay. It broke the feet of iron and clay causing the image to collapse. The entire statue then disintegrated and was carried away “like the chaff of the summer threshing floor.” Finally, the stone grew into a great mountain that filled the entire earth.

Daniel explained that each segment of the statue symbolized one of the five empires that would rule the world from the time of Nebuchadnezzar until the establishment of the kingdom of God upon earth.

Daniel stated clearly to Nebuchadnezzar in verse 38, “Thou art this head of gold.”

Then he said in verse 39, “And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.” The phrase “which shall bear rule over all the earth” gives the qualification for being included in the statue. Many empires have existed since the time of Nebuchadnezzar and his world kingdom of Babylon in 600 BC, but only five have been considered as controlling the world of its day.

Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian world government was the head of gold. In 539 BC, the Medes and the Persians conquered Babylon and proceeded to rule the world for the next 208 years. The Medio-Persian Empire was the arms and breasts of silver in the statue.

In 331 BC, Alexander the Great conquered the Medes and the Persians establishing his Grecian Empire. Greece dominated the world until the ascendance of Rome to power in 197 BC. The Grecian Empire was the belly and thighs of brass.

The Roman Empire was the legs of iron and was the strongest of all the empires. It continued for 500 years. The Roman Empire ruled the world during the time of Jesus Christ and His apostles. That’s the reason there were Roman soldiers in Jerusalem at the time of the crucifixion. These were occupying troops enforcing the will of the Roman government upon the nation of Israel. That also explains why the Jews asked Jesus whether they were obligated to pay taxes to Caesar. After the demise of the Roman Empire (the legs of iron), only one empire depicted in the prophecy remained.

When moving from one empire to the next in the statue, there was always a total change of metal…until the last time. The statue went from gold, to silver, to brass, to iron. However, when moving from the fourth prophesied empire to the fifth, an element of the previous empire was retained, but another element was added in. The legs of iron transitioned into the feet of iron mingled with clay.

The birth of the Holy Roman Empire

After the decline of the Roman Empire, the dream of European grandeur lay dormant, but never actually died. In 800 AD, the “Holy” Roman Empire was born when Pope Leo III placed a crown on the head of Charlemagne, pronouncing him the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. The Holy Roman Empire was destined to be a partnership between church and state–between politics and religion. The iron in the feet of the statue symbolized the political power. The clay symbolized the religious element. The feet of iron and clay represented the Holy Roman Empire. Remember, the prophecy was given before there was a Roman Empire or a Holy Roman Empire. Yet the depiction in the prophecy is so accurate!

This Holy Roman Empire proceeded to dominate Europe for the next 1,000 years. Ever since its birth in 800 AD, its leadership has always been comprised of a partnership between the strongest political leader of Europe and the head of the strongest religious force in Europe, the Roman Catholic Church.

Many historians pronounced the Holy Roman Empire dead after the fall of Francis II in 1806. However, European leaders and Vatican officials have never given up on the dream of reviving the Holy Roman Empire. Well, now it has happened!

The re-birth of the Holy Roman Empire

At the end of World War II, Winston Churchill proposed the creation of a United States of Europe. He and other European leaders believed the way to achieve this European empire was to first join Europe together economically. They believed that political union would then inevitably follow.

The Common Market was formed in 1957 by the Treaty of Rome. France, West Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium were the six founding members. The goal was to remove all trade barriers among the member states, creating an economic union. The experiment worked so successfully that soon other European nations were clamoring to join. The Common Market went from six, to nine, to ten, to twelve member states by 1992. By that time, all taxes and tariffs had been eliminated among the member states. The Common Market was complete.

But the real dream of political unity was yet to be realized. The Common Market members signed a new treaty in 1993—the Maastricht Treaty. This new agreement changed the group’s name from Common Market to European Union. The Maastricht Treaty established a common European currency while calling for Europe to have its own president, foreign minister and constitution.

In 1995, three more nations joined the European Union and by 1999 the European currency, the euro, was born. Most of the EU members discarded their national currencies into the dustbin of history and embraced the new currency. In 2004, ten more nations joined the EU, and then two more joined in 2007. This brought the total number of member states to 27 with a total population of over 500 million people.

Needed: A constitution, a president, a foreign minister

When Europe left its common market phase and focused on the ultimate goal of political union, the requirements were clear. If Europe were really to become a United States of Europe, it would need a constitution, a permanent president, and a foreign minster just like the United States of America.

Former French Prime Minister, Valery Giscard d’Estaing, headed the panel to design a constitution for the European Union. On October 29, 2004, all 25 member-states of the EU signed the new constitution. It looked like the United States of Europe was just around the corner. However, the constitution had to be ratified by all 25 states. Many Europeans didn’t want an EU constitution because they knew it would signal the end of their national sovereignty.

Quickly, France and Holland voted “no” on the constitution leaving it dead in the water. Was the European dream dead? Many people thought so, but others were determined to achieve their ultimate goal of a United States of Europe. What to do?

When is a constitution not a constitution?

The answer? When you call it a treaty.

It became obvious to Europe’s politicians that the people of Europe would never ratify their beloved constitution. So, what to do? Well, if we call the document a treaty, treaties don’t have to be ratified by the people. The politicians in the parliament can ratify treaties without allowing the people to vote. Sneaky? Yes. Devious? Yes. Democratic? No!

So that’s what they did. They rewrote the constitution, making a few harmless cosmetic changes. On December 13, 2007, in the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon, Portugal, all 27 states signed the Lisbon Treaty. Quickly, France ratified it, then Holland and soon the other member-states. Northern Ireland voted it down, but after much browbeating, they re-voted and passed the treaty.

On November 3, 2009, the last country, the Czech Republic, ratified the Lisbon Treaty. Europe had its constitution at last, and the Holy Roman Empire was reborn! What Hitler had failed to do by war, the bureaucrats of Europe had accomplished without firing a shot! Twenty-seven nations with over 500 million people were now under a single government with a single flag.

On November 19, 2009, Herman Von Rompuy of Belgium was chosen to be Europe’s first permanent president and Kathy Ashton of Great Britain became Europe’s first foreign minister.

Is the European Union really the rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire?

The Bible prophesies that the Holy Roman Empire will be in power at the second coming of Jesus to the earth. Consequently, it is very important that we know for sure if today’s European Union really is the re-birth of the Holy Roman Empire. Let’s look at the indicators.

When the fathers of the European Union minted their first money, the European Currency Unit, they needed a meaningful image for the front of the money. Understanding that they were attempting to rebuild the Holy Roman Empire, they chose the image of Charlemagne, the first emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.

When they decided to award an annual prize to the person that had done the most to promote European unification during the past year, they needed a name for the prize. What did they settle on as an appropriate name? The Charlemagne Prize!

Where did the person awarded the Charlemagne Prize have to go in order to receive the award? To Aachen, Germany, the home of Charlemagne and the place where Charlemagne’s Cathedral, which he built in 800 AD, still stands.

Europe’s most prestigious magazine is called The Economist. Each week, The Economist devotes one page to reporting on the latest developments taking place toward European unification. The name of the page? The Charlemagne Page!

The headquarters for the European Union is located in Brussels, Belgium. There is a building in Brussels where all nations seeking entrance into the EU must go to file their applications and to conduct the required negotiations. The name of the building? I’m sure you’ve guessed it by now. The Charlemagne Building!

Do the leaders of Europe know they are rebuilding Charlemagne’s Holy Roman Empire? You better believe they do!

How do we know that Jesus will return to earth during the time of this Holy Roman Empire?

We’ve already demonstrated that the feet of iron and clay represented the Holy Roman Empire. Verse 34 of the prophecy states that a stone smote the image upon the feet of iron mingled with clay. The stone represents Jesus Christ and His kingdom. This demonstrates that Jesus will return to earth during the time of the Holy Roman Empire. When He comes, He will destroy all human governments and replace them with the long-promised kingdom of God.

How do we know the Antichrist and the False Prophet will come out of this revived Holy Roman Empire?

In Daniel 7:7, the last empire that will rule upon earth right before the coming of Jesus Christ is depicted as a beast with ten horns. The passage states that the ten horns symbolize ten kings that will be in alliance together. In the vision, another horn came up among the ten, uprooting three of them. This horn then became great and made war against the saints until the Ancient of Days, Jesus Christ, came.

The ten horns in this prophecy represent the same ten kings that are symbolized by the ten toes of iron mixed with clay in Daniel 2. Notice what Daniel 2:44 says about the final ten kings symbolized by the ten toes:

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

In the days of what kings? The ten kings represented by the ten toes of iron mingled with clay…the same ten kings represented by the ten horns in Daniel 7. Since the Antichrist comes up among these ten kings, then we know he will come up from within the Holy Roman Empire.

The False Prophet

Revelation 13 describes the Antichrist and his religious partner, the False Prophet. We have proven above that the Antichrist will rule over a revived Holy Roman Empire.

Throughout its 1,000-year history, the Holy Roman Empire has always been ruled by two men—a political leader and a religious leader. The political leader has always been the strongest politician in Europe, and the religious leader has always been the pope from Rome.

It will be no different during this last brief reign of the Holy Roman Empire that was born on November 3, 2009. Whoever is pope at the time of the Antichrist, that man will be the False Prophet. Even Roman Catholic prophecy books teach there is an evil pope coming, and that he will be the last pope.

Another prophecy depicting the last-day Holy Roman Empire

Someone might justifiably ask, “Are there any other prophecies in the Bible that confirm the Daniel 2 prophecy about the rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire in the endtimes?” The answer is found in Revelation 17:1-3.

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

We first see this beast with seven heads and ten horns in Revelation 13. A beast in Bible prophecy always symbolizes a nation or a kingdom. It is said of this beast in Revelation 13 that “all the world wondered after the beast” (verse 3). Verse 7 adds to the picture of this seven-headed, ten-horned beast as the last-day world government of the Antichrist: “…and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.”

It is obvious that the beast of Revelation 13 is the same beast that is portrayed in the prophecy in Revelation 17. Consequently, we know that the beast of Revelation 17 is the one-world government that will rule the earth at the time of the Antichrist.

Who is the woman riding the world government beast?

What is the message that God is trying to convey to us in this prophecy of Revelation 17? Who is this woman that is shown riding on the back of the world government beast?

We can prove conclusively who this woman is. We are given five undeniable proofs. Let’s look at them one by one. Verse 18 of Revelation 17 says:

And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Our first clue concerning the identity of the woman is that she is a city.

Verse 1 says that the woman sat upon many waters. What could that mean? Verse 15 explains:

And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

So the woman is a city and yet that city presides over peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues. Apparently the city in the prophecy is the headquarters for a vast international system.

In verse 3 we were told that the beast on which the woman sat had 7 heads. What could that mean? We don’t have to guess. Verse 9 plainly tells us:

“This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.” (NIV)

Remember, the woman is a city (verse 18). So this ninth verse could read: The seven heads are seven hills on which the city sitteth.

Is there a city that is famous for being located on seven hills? Absolutely! The city of Rome is historically known as the City of Seven Hills.

So, do the clues fit so far? Is Rome a city? Obviously. Does Rome preside over peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues? Yes. The Roman Church claims over one billion followers worldwide. Members of the Roman Church are referred to as subjects of the pope.

Is Rome the City of Seven Hills? Yes.

More clues

Verse 4 of Revelation 17 states:

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

If the woman is the Roman Catholic Church, what is meant by this verse that describes her as being arrayed in purple and scarlet (red)?

There are two ruling bodies in the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church—The College of Cardinals and the College of Bishops. Cardinals wear red. Bishops and archbishops wear purple. This is the reason the woman is described as wearing red and purple.

Verse 5 describes the woman as being “drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.”

The estimates range from 6 million to 68 million as the number of those killed by the Roman Church during the time of the Inquisition. The church saw it as her right to torture and murder those who refused to blindly follow her unbiblical and heretical doctrines. The church’s inquisitors cut out their tongues, beheaded them and burned them at the stake.

The English Reformer, William Tyndale, was burned at the stake in Belgium for the crime of having translated the Bible into the English language. They used the Bibles he translated to light the fire.

Protestants were burned at the stake as “heretics” in Spain, Italy, France, England and Scotland.

Under King Phillip II of Spain, more than 18,000 Protestants were executed in the Netherlands. In an attempt to force them to confess to “heresy”, both men and women were mercilessly tortured.

In 1568 the Inquisition condemned all three million inhabitants of the Netherlands to death as “heretics”.

Similarly, the Inquisition condemned the Professor of Prague University, John Hus, to be burned alive for his Reformation works.

Drunken with the blood of the saints? I should say!

The woman riding the beast is the Holy Roman Empire of the endtime

The evidence is undisputable. The beast of Revelation 17 is the world government beast of the endtimes. The woman riding with the beast is the Church of Rome. This prophecy depicts the exact same alliance between politics and religion as is portrayed by the feet of iron mingled with clay in Daniel 2. Revelation 17 is another picture of the reborn Holy Roman Empire of the endtime.

The same ten kings mentioned in Daniel 7 and symbolized as the ten toes in Daniel 2:44 are mentioned in this prophecy of Revelation 17:12-14.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast (the Antichrist). These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

As we have shown, there are two extensive prophecies depicting the rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire just before the second coming of Christ and the battle of Armageddon. This prophesied rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire was completed on November 3, 2009!

Wake up world! You just witnessed one of the five greatest prophetic fulfillments in the last 2,000 years. Can the second coming of Jesus to earth be far behind?
