As we assess the prophetic fulfillments of 2012, we will consider six major prophecies given for the times immediately preceding the Second Coming of Jesus and the Battle of Armageddon. They are:

 Prophetic Fulfillments of 2012

Looking back on 2012, we will see that the signs indicating the approaching Second Coming of Christ continued to accelerate during the year of 2012.

 

World War III

Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.

 

Revelation 9:13-16

We know three things for certain about the Sixth Trumpet War from this prophecy: 1) The war will kill one-third of the human race. 2) It will begin from the area of the Euphrates River. 3) An army of 200 million soldiers will participate in this war.

 

Four nations house the Euphrates River: Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran. The prophesied war will begin from one or more of these nations.

 

Between the civil war raging in Syria and the dispute over Iran’s ongoing nuclear enrichment, the Euphrates River Basin has been the number one focus of the world’s attention throughout 2012.

 

Iran

The United Nations, led by the United States, has levied four levels of economic sanctions against the nation of Iran because it has refused to stop its nuclear enrichment program.

 

Both Israel and the United States have said that they would not allow Iranians to develop nuclear weapons, even if military action were required to stop them.

 

Most observers believed Israel would attack Iran’s nuclear facilities in the spring of 2012 before Iran was able to move its enrichment facilities underground. However, the United States urged Israel to wait, giving diplomacy a chance. Israel, not wanting to alienate her number one ally, waited.

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu focused almost his entire speech on the Iranian threat at the UN on September 27, 2012. His graph, showing Iran’s progress toward obtaining enough nuclear fuel to build a nuclear bomb, was reproduced on the front pages of publications around the world. Netanyahu’s graph depicted the red line when it would become too late to stop Iran’s drive toward possessing nuclear weapons.

 

During all this time of stalling and debate, Iran continued to enrich uranium and to move its enrichment facilities underground. It was reported that the critical enrichment facilities would be completely moved before the US presidential elections on November 6, 2012. Most Middle East observers believed Israel would launch its attack against Iran’s nuclear production capabilities before Iran became immune from an Israeli strike. However, President Obama did not want an Israeli attack against Iran and a possible full-blown war immediately before the presidential elections.

 

It is not known what President Obama promised in order to forestall Israel’s attack against Iran, but the strike never occurred. In his speech at the UN, Obama did promise that Iran would never be allowed to build a nuclear bomb or to possess the means of building a nuclear bomb.

 

Iran Reaches Immunity from Israeli Attack

In October of 2012, Iran moved the last of its centrifuges into the underground facility at Fordo. The event that Israel said she would never allow to happen had, in fact, happened. The possibility of an Israeli air strike against Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility had now been taken away. Israel’s choices were narrowed to a ground invasion of Iran, the use of nuclear bombs in a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities, the US conducting an attack on Iran, or accepting Iran as a nuclear power.

 

At press time, President Obama continues to insist that there is still time for diplomacy to work with Iran. The latest statement from the Obama administration was that Iran must begin to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) by March 2013. However, so many deadlines have been set and broken that no one has faith in them any longer. Meanwhile, Israel’s options continue to shrink, and the fear in Israel grows that Iran will suddenly announce that she now possesses a nuclear bomb.

 

Attack on Iran in 2013?

Many political observers and even some government officials have expressed the opinion that the US will attack Iran sometime in the first half of 2013, if diplomatic efforts fail. Iran’s leaders have stated repeatedly that, if the US or Israel attacks Iran, it will trigger World War III. That leaves every person on earth with the disturbing question, “In the year 2013, will the conflict with Iran erupt into the Sixth Trumpet War that will ultimately wipe out one-third of the human race?”

 

Syria

If Iran does not serve as the flashpoint for the prophesied Euphrates River War, the expanding conflict in Syria certainly could. Since the demonstrations against the Bashar Assad government began in 2011, in excess of 40,000 Syrians have been killed. The West desperately wants to replace the Assad regime with a government that will be subservient to the UN.

 

Both Hillary Clinton and President Obama have stated emphatically that Bashar Assad must leave power. However, a UN resolution calling for Assad to step down was vetoed by Russia and China. Since President Obama is a firm believer in global governance, he has been unwilling to lead an invasion that the UN would not approve. However, the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey have supplied money and military equipment to assist the rebels in their war against Assad. Russia, in the meantime, has continued to insist that the Syrian conflict is an internal matter and that outside forces must not interfere.

 

Chemical Weapons

It has been known for many years that Syria possesses a large stockpile of chemical and biological weapons. President Obama has warned Assad against using those weapons in the Syrian conflict. He has stated this would be a red line for the US. Assad has stated that he would never use these weapons against his own people, but would feel free to use them if external forces invaded Syria.

 

Around the first of December, satellite reports indicated that the Syrian government had begun the process of activating its chemical weapons. It appeared this was happening because Assad’s hold on power was slipping from his grasp. Again, the US warned that the use of these weapons against the people of Syria was a red line that Assad should not cross.

 

As the conflict increased in intensity, Turkey requested that NATO move anti-missile defenses into Turkey along its Syrian border. NATO moved quickly to fulfill this request.

 

General Hassan Firouzabadi, the Iranian armed forces chief, said the planned deployment of NATO Patriot missiles along Turkey’s border with Syria “could lead to a world war.” Firouzabadi said Iran wanted its neighbor Turkey to feel secure but called for NATO not to deploy the Patriots in its easternmost member state, which also borders Iran. “Each one of these Patriots is a black mark on the world map, and is meant to cause a world war,” he said. “They are making plans for a world war, and this is very dangerous for the future of humanity and for the future of Europe itself.”

 

Firouzabaki’s remarks were accentuated a few days later when it became known that Russia had sent a dozen mobile batteries, each carrying a pair of Iskander missiles, that were fixed into position opposite Turkey and another dozen, opposite Jordan and Israel. The West and Israel have no answer for the Iskander’s hypersonic speed of more than 1.3 miles per second with a 280 mile-range and a 1,500-pound warhead, which destroys targets with pinpoint accuracy. It is also nuclear-capable.

 

The thing that makes the Syrian conflict so dangerous is the potential of drawing the major powers into conflict. The US has 12,000 troops poised along Syria’s southern border with Jordan and 400 troops manning the Patriot missiles in Turkey, while Russia maintains its deep-water naval base in Tartus, Syria, with several hundred Russian marines on the ground there. Additionally, Russian specialists accompany the new Iskander missiles just installed in Syria.

 

Complicating the situation even further, Iran has several thousand of its elite troops in Syria fighting alongside Assad’s forces. In addition, Iraq is serving as a corridor for the shipping of military equipment into Syria. As we can see, this means all four Euphrates River powers have been drawn into the Syrian conflict.

 

Do all these factors indicate that we are on the brink of the Euphrates River War spoken of in Revelation 9? The possibility seems very strong. If the conflict in Syria or in Iran erupts into full-blown war, the possibility of one-third of mankind being annihilated in 2013 becomes very real.

 

Middle East Agreement – Beginning of Final 7 Years

The two prophecies that appear to be next on God’s timeline are World War III and an agreement on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The prophecies are not crystal clear on which of these events will come to pass first. However, it appears that World War III will precede the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli dispute.

 

Very significant developments leading to a Palestinian-Israeli agreement occurred during 2012.

 

Before his first term began in 2009, President Obama stated that he would push for a Middle East peace agreement from the first day of his presidency. He certainly lived up to that promise. The day after his inauguration he appointed former Senator John Mitchell to be his special envoy to the Middle East. Mitchell had been successful in diffusing one of the world’s greatest conflicts—the battle between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. It was believed that, if anyone could find a way toward peace in the Middle East, Mitchell could.

 

However, the Obama administration made a strategic error from the outset. They openly stated that Israel should stop all building in the “occupied territories” including east Jerusalem. No US president had ever made this demand.

 

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas quickly picked up on this shift in US policy. He aligned himself with the Obama position stating that Palestinians would not participate in peace negotiations unless all building in the settlements was frozen. Israel found herself faced with an alliance between her best friend and her worst enemy.

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, realizing the precariousness of Israel’s new predicament, decided to call the Palestinian bluff. He declared a ten-month freeze on settlement building beginning on November 25, 2009. Still, Abbas refused to come to the peace table. Netanyahu reiterated what he had said to President Obama before. He stated that the Palestinians weren’t really interested in peace, but that they were really plotting the total annihilation of the State of Israel.

 

On September 2, 2010, 24 days before Israel’s building moratorium expired, Abbas finally returned to negotiations. His plan was obvious: Restart the peace talks in order to save face with the US and then pressure Netanyahu to extend the building freeze. This would indicate that all of the occupied territories were up for negotiation including east Jerusalem.

 

When Netanyahu refused to extend the building freeze, the Palestinian contingent abruptly walked out of the talks. From that time onward all attempts to resume the peace talks have failed.

 

Appealing to the World Government

Since the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel had stated that she would not return to 1967 borders because they were not defensible. Furthermore, Israel had officially annexed east Jerusalem in 1980. On the other hand, the Palestinians had insisted that every inch of the land gained by Israel in the 1967 War had to become part of the projected Palestinian state, including east Jerusalem as the new Palestinian capital.

 

Knowing that Israel would never agree to these terms, Mahmoud Abbas made the decision to forsake negotiations and to appeal to the United Nations. He openly declared that the Palestinians would apply for membership in the UN on September 23, 2011, at the 66th General Assembly of the UN. When it became obvious that this was Abbas’ intended course of action, Israel and the US began to marshal opposition to Palestinian membership in the United Nations. The US indicated that, if necessary, it would use its veto power at the UN Security Council to prevent approval of the Palestinian application. However, the US disliked using its veto and was able to muster the required eight votes on the UN Security Council required to defeat the measure.

 

On the same day, September 23, 2011, that the Palestinian application was rejected, the International Community issued a new invitation to negotiation to the Palestinians and Israelis. A very aggressive timetable was set, calling for a total peace agreement to be concluded by December 2012.

 

The Palestinian and Israeli peace teams met a few times in response to this call by the International Community. However, their positions were irreconcilable. Abbas announced he would apply for non-member state recognition before the UN General Assembly in 2012. He knew the US had no veto power in the General Assembly. He also knew the Palestinians had a guaranteed majority there since 132 of the 193 nations at the General Assembly had already recognized the State of Palestine.

 

The US and Israel lobbied the nations of the world against granting Palestinian statehood. However, they both knew it was a lost cause. Anything affecting Israel always went against Israel negatively in the UN General Assembly.

 

The US could have stopped the action if it had been willing to put all of its political and financial muscle behind doing so. If the US had informed the UN that all financial contributions from the US to the UN would cease if Palestine statehood were recognized, the UN would have found a way to deny the granting of statehood.

 

It was obvious that the Obama administration didn’t really want to stop the recognition of Palestine within 1967 borders and with east Jerusalem as its capital since this was the very stance that President Obama himself had supported during the first four years of his administration. He and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had repeatedly demanded that Israel stop all building in the pre-1967 territories, including east Jerusalem.

 

Seeds of Armageddon Sown—November 29, 2012?

With the recognition of the Palestinian state within 1967 borders and with east Jerusalem as its capital, Israel became an illegal occupying state in the eyes of the UN. Israel would have to agree to terms with the Palestinians or eventually become the object of international sanctions and possibly even military action by the International Community.

 

Zechariah 14:2 prophesies that “all nations” will come against Israel at the Battle of Armageddon. It appears that the seeds of Armageddon were sown on November 29, 2012!

 

World Government

Several specific prophecies are given in the Bible foretelling the establishment of a world government upon the earth immediately before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

 

Daniel 7:23 states,

 

The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

 

This prophecy goes on to say that this world government and its leader, the Antichrist, will rule the world for 3½ years. The world government will then be destroyed by Jesus Christ at His Second Coming.

 

Another prophecy foretelling this same world government is given in Revelation 13:5-7. Verse 5 states the Antichrist and his world government will continue for 42 months (3½ years). Verse 7 discloses that the power of the Antichrist will be worldwide:

 

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given to him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

 

World Government Forming Now

The focus of world attention has been on the Middle East throughout 2012. World events have never been more confusing.

 

What is the Arab Spring? Is it the emergence of democracy and freedom in the Arab world? Or is it a battle between Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims? Or is it really an effort by the Western powers to gain control over the oil riches of the region?

 

Even more confusing is the relationship of the US to al Qaeda. We blamed al Qaeda for the 9/11 attacks on the Trade Towers in New York. Then we claimed the War on Terrorism was against al Qaeda. However, when we launched our war against Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, we suddenly found ourselves fighting side-by-side with al Qaeda. Now in Syria al Qaeda has joined forces with the rebels to topple the government of Bashar al-Assad. The United States is also working to overthrow the Assad regime. So once again the US finds itself fighting shoulder to shoulder with the forces of al Qaeda. It’s all very confusing.

 

Order Out of Chaos?

Since its beginning one of the guiding principles of Marxist revolution has been “order out of chaos.” This principle simply states that if enough chaos and confusion can be generated it becomes easier for the Marxist to grab power and to replace the old order with their new world order. Magicians are experts at focusing their audience’s attention on what they are doing with their left hand while they are performing their “magic tricks” with their right hand.

 

Likewise, when the world’s attention is focused on one particular set of events, many times other critical developments are occurring that escape our notice. This was particularly true in 2012. While our attention has been locked on Egypt, Libya, Iran and Syria, the drive to establish a one-world government has been proceeding rapidly.

UN Plans Global Welfare System

The United Nations wants a world tax imposed on all financial transactions to fund a global model of social services that will provide ‘needy people’ with a basic income, free healthcare, education and housing.

 

“No one should live below a certain income level,” stated Milos Koterec, President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. “Everyone should be able to access at least basic health services, primary education, housing, water, sanitation and other essential services.”

 

The UN is planning two global taxes to pay for this global welfare program and to provide the United Nations with an independent source of revenue. They want a world tax imposed on all financial transactions and cap & trade taxes that would force businesses and individuals to pay for exceeding their assigned carbon emissions quota. These two taxes combined would generate an incredible amount of revenue, supplying the finances to enable the UN to become a bona fide world government.

 

This represents the UN’s latest attempt to fleece Western taxpayers under the utopian rhetoric of global socialism and to reinvigorate the pursuit of a one-world government.

 

According to the report, the new global tax is designed to be a progressive scale, with higher earners paying more to help provide “all needy people with a basic income, healthcare, education and housing.

 

World Government Refuses to Approve the Toppling of the Syrian Government

Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on Saturday calling for Syrian President Bashar Assad to resign, prompting the US delegate to react with “disgust” that the permanent council members had thwarted international action to stop 11 months of violence.

 

Editor’s note: Though 13 of the 15 members of the security council voted for the resolution, Russia and China are two of the five permanent members of the council that possess veto power over UN Security Council actions.

 

Editor’s note: Most UN members believe the veto power of the five permanent members should be abolished so that the UN could function as a true world government of equal states. However, this change has not yet been accepted by the world body. Russia has been Syria’s ally and number one supplier of military equipment for many years-thus the veto.

• the overall state of global governance and multilateral cooperation

UN Plans for World Government Taxes

The main goal of the much-touted, Rio + 20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, scheduled to be held in Brazil from June 20-23, and which Obama Administration officials have supported, is to make dramatic and enormously expensive changes in the way that the world does nearly everything—or, as one of the documents puts it, ‘a fundamental shift in the way we think and act’.

 

• More than $2.1 trillion a year in wealth transfers from rich countries to poorer ones, in the name of fostering ‘green infrastructure’, ‘climate adaptation’ and other ‘green economy’ measures.

 

• New carbon taxes for industrialized countries that could cost about $250 billion a year, or 0.6 percent of Gross Domestic Product by 2020. Other environmental taxes are mentioned, but not specified.

 

• Major global social spending programs, including a ‘social protection floor’ and ‘social safety nets’ for the world’s most vulnerable social groups for reasons of ‘equity’.

 

• Even more social benefits for those displaced by the green economy revolution—including those put out of work in undesirable fossil fuel industries. The benefits, called ‘investments’, would include ‘access to nutritious food, health services, education, training and retraining, and unemployment benefits’.

 

But the whopping green ‘investment’ list barely scratches the surface of the mammoth exercise in global social engineering that is envisaged in the UN documents, prepared by the Geneva-based United Nations Environmental Management Group (UNEMG), a consortium of 36 UN agencies, development banks and environmental bureaucracies, in advance of the Rio session.

 

But even so, the tools are intended for only one final aim. And they have the full endorsement of UN Secretary General Ban, who declares in a forward to the document that “only such integrated approach will lay lasting foundations for peace and sustainable development”, and calls the upcoming Rio conclave a “generational opportunity” to act.

 

Former Head-of-State Convicted by World Court

For the first time in the history of the world, a head-of-state has been tried and found guilty before a world court. A world court system is essential if the planned world government is to be able to enforce its authority upon the world.

 

World government took a big leap forward on April 26, 2012, when an International Tribunal found former Liberian president Charles Taylor guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including rape, murder, and destruction of civilian property. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

 

Taylor protested his innocence and charged that International Criminal Court prosecutors paid witnesses to testify against him. He was speaking at his sentencing hearing at the ICC in The Hague.

 

“Witnesses were paid, coerced and in many cases threatened with prosecution if they did not give statements,” Taylor declared.

 

Taylor charged that the case against him was a conspiracy by the United States and other Western powers. Taylor also questioned why former US President George W Bush, who he alleged had admitted to ordering torture, was not being brought to face a court, asking: “Is he above the law?”

 

When heads-of-state can be tried before a world court, national sovereignty no longer exists.

 

Pope Calls for World Government

Since the establishment of the International Criminal Court, the long shadow of international law has increasingly imposed its influence on the nations of the world.

 

Israel now requires each of its company, battalion and brigade commanders to attend classes on international law. They must learn which targets are legitimate and which of them would violate the guidelines set by international law. They must learn how to determine what is considered proportional force that may be used when they are attacked as opposed to excessive force.

 

Israel now has 20 full-time international lawyers working with the commanders of its forces. These lawyers meet with the commanders as they lay their plans for battle during times of conflict. Russia and China have opposed military intervention in Syria throughout 17 months of bloodshed and have vetoed three UN Security Council resolutions backed by Western and Arab states that would raise pressure on Damascus to end violence.

 

Lavrov, cited by Russian news agencies at a meeting with China’s top diplomat, was speaking a day after US President Barack Obama said US forces could move against President Bashar Assad if he deploys chemical weapons against rebels trying to overthrow him.

 

Russia and China base their diplomatic cooperation on “the need to strictly adhere to the norms of international law and the principles contained in the UN Charter, and not to allow their violation,” Interfax quoted Lavrov as saying at a meeting with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo.

 

“I think this is the only correct path in today’s conditions,” Lavrov said.

Matters were complicated by an African bloc of countries calling for a paragraph to be added to the treaty’s preamble stating that: ‘These regulations recognize the right of access of member states to international telecommunication services’.

 

The US and its allies contended this was an attempt to extend the treaty’s regulations to cover Internet governance and content. As a result, the US, Canada and UK said they could not ratify the treaty.

Then on May 9, 2012, Obama came out openly in support of same sex marriage. Many thought his open endorsement of two men or two women being married would result in his defeat in the November presidential elections. However, they obviously underestimated the moral shift that the United States had undergone.

 

On November 6, 2012, a majority of Americans voted for a president they knew favored same-sex marriage.

A gay couple in Brooklyn, N.Y., was surprised to find a letter in their mailbox six months after their wedding congratulating them, but they were more surprised to find it was from the commander-in-chief.

 

Matt Katz, 32, and Aaron Lafrenz, 36, were married at the Katz family’s Brooklyn home on July 23, 2011, the day before gay marriage became legal in New York State. The following day, the two went to Brooklyn borough hall and were among the first gay couples to legally be married in the state.

 

This December, Katz and Lafrenz received a letter in their mailbox congratulating them on their same-sex marriage. The letter had the White House seal indented in the paper and the signature of one Barack Obama on the bottom.

Marriage certificates could even be affected by the Coalition proposals, with rules possibly axing terms such as bride and bridegroom.

Proposed Law Would Force Churches to Host Gay Weddings

The Hutchinson City Council will consider adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the protected classes in the city’s human relations code. They are expected to vote on the changes next month.

 

According to the Hutchinson Human Relations Commission, churches that rent out their buildings to the general public would not be allowed to discriminate “against a gay couple who wanted to rent the building for a party.”

 

LGBT Lawyers Sue Pastor for “Crime Against Humanity”

A law firm known for publicity-seeking tactics is suing an American minister in US Federal Court because he criticized homosexuality in Uganda.

 

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) says pastor and attorney Scott Lively committed “persecution,” a “crime against humanity” as defined in the Rome Statutes of the International Criminal Court.

 

CCR filed the case in the US on behalf of a Ugandan advocacy group called Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) and are using the Alien Tort Claims Act, an old and very controversial US statute that allows foreigners to sue in US court for violations of international law committed outside the US.

 

NC to Add Marriage Amendment to Its Constitution

Appeals Court Strikes Down Defense of Marriage Act

A federal appeals court on Thursday found a law that denies federal benefits to married same-sex couples unconstitutional, in a case with implications for gay marriages across the United States.

 

The Boston-based Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit concluded that the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman, discriminates against gay couples.

 

Black Pastors Group Demands Meeting with Obama Over Gay Marriage

The Coalition of African-American Pastors has demanded a meeting with President Obama to try to change his mind on his personal embrace of same-sex marriage.

 

The pastors fired off a letter this week to Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. asking him to set up the meeting with the president, and painted their quest as a civil rights cause.

 

“I can promise you personally, as an organizer of the civil rights movement in Nashville, I did not march one inch, one foot, one yard for same-sex marriage,” said Rev. William “Bill” Owens Sr., founder of the coalition and organizer of the letter.

 

While saying they are proud of Mr. Obama’s success and calling him the “fulfillment of our dreams for our sons,” Mr. Owens and the 19 other religious leaders who signed his letter said the president’s evolution to embrace same-sex marriage “has broken our hearts by using his power and position to endorse as a civil right something that is simply wrong.”

Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has married her long-time partner Heather Poe.

 

In a statement provided to The DC, both the former vice president and his wife, Lynne, said they are “delighted” the couple could have their “relationship recognized.”

 

“Our daughter Mary and her long time partner, Heather Poe, were married today in Washington, DC,” the Cheneys said. Poe and Mary Cheney have two children: Cheney gave birth to a son in 2007, and a daughter in 2009. They live together in Virginia.

 

Pentagon Holds First Gay Pride Event

The celebration was broadcast on the Pentagon cable channel with the title “LGBT Pride Month Event.” The initials stand for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender.

 

France Set to Ban the Words ‘Mother’ and ‘Father’ from Official Documents

France is set to ban the words “mother” and “father” from all official documents under controversial plans to legalize gay marriage.

 

The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word “parents” would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.

 

The draft law states that “marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender”.

 

It says all references to “mothers and fathers” in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply “parents”.

 

The law would also give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.

 

Gay Characters at Record High on US Television

New shows “The New Normal,” “Girls” and comedy “Go On” have helped US television rack up a record number of gay, bisexual and transgender characters, gay rights group GLAAD said on Friday.

 

In its 8th annual report tracking gender and ethnic diversity on television, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) said on Friday there will be 111 LGBT characters in regular or recurring roles on scripted shows across US television.

 

Inclusive TV shows now range from crime and medical series like “Grey’s Anatomy”, to long-running teen dramas like Canada’s “Degrassi” on Teennick and British period favorite “Downton Abbey” with its duplicitous gay butler Thomas Barrow.

 

GLAAD President Herndon Graddick said the increasing numbers reflect “a cultural change in the way gay and lesbian people are seen in our society.”

 

Anti-Gay Marriage Protesters Rally in Paris

Thousands of Catholics and other opponents of French government plans to legalize gay marriage and same-sex adoption marched in Paris on Sunday, a day after more than 100,000 turned out across France for the cause.

 

The protesters included several young people wearing cassocks, a Christian clerical garment. Others waved the French flag and banners depicting the Christian cross and other emblems.

 

Pope Says Future of Mankind at Stake Over Gay Marriage

Pope Benedict XVI has weighed in on a heated debate over gay marriage, criticizing new concepts of the traditional family and warning that mankind itself was at stake.

 

“In the fight for the family, the very notion of being – of what being human really means – is being called into question,” the Pope said in Italian during an end-of-year speech.

 

He cited feminist gender theorist Simone de Beauvoir’s view to the effect that one is not born a woman, but one becomes so – that sex was no longer an element of nature but a social role people chose for themselves.

 

“The profound falsehood of this theory and of the anthropological revolution contained within it is obvious,” he said.

 

The defense of the family, the Pope said, “Is about man himself. And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears.”

666–The Mark of the Beast. It’s the most famous prophecy in the Bible. Its message is crystal clear. A time is coming very soon when every person on earth will be required to have a mark or a number, without which he or she will not be permitted to buy or sell. In practical application, a national ID card or number will be required to hold a job. Of course, with no job, a person will have no money with which to buy and sell.

 

One more condition of the prophecy is what makes it so ominous. Each person will have to “worship” the Antichrist and his world government in order to have his national ID card or number validated. Worshiping the Antichrist probably refers to some form of pledging allegiance. Without “pledging allegiance” to the Antichrist and his one-world government, the individual will be frozen out of the global economy. However, if any person does pledge allegiance to the Antichrist, the prophecy states the punishment will be eternal damnation. Revelation 14:9-11 says it this way:

The alarming thing is that almost every nation on earth either already has a national ID system set up or is in the process of setting one up right now. Many nations took significant steps toward establishing or enhancing their national ID systems during 2012.

 

India

In 2010, India ordered 1.2 billion ID cards, one for each of its 1.2 billion citizens. The goal was to implement a nationwide program to register and assign a one-of-a-kind ID number to every Indian resident—some 1.2 billion people—by 2020 and to meet an interim goal of issuing 600 million IDs by 2014. By April 2012 India had enrolled 200 million people in its Unique ID program.

 

Once the system is in place, people in India will be able to provide their 12-digit number, show fingerprints and iris scans, and immediately a central database will be able to authenticate that they are who they say they are. It is also projected that the national ID system will be used for opening bank accounts and then eventually for purchasing things electronically.

 

Sweden

In March of 2012, it was reported that more and more businesses in Sweden were moving away from accepting cash. There are towns where even banks no longer accept or dispense cash. Everything is being done electronically. Bills and coins now represent only 3 percent of Sweden’s economy. Sweden is almost a cashless society already.

 

Russia

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced in the spring of 2011 that Russia would launce a Universal Electronic Card (UEC) in 2012. This card is intended to eventually replace all local, regional, and national forms of ID, providing a central database through which Russians can access everything from medical insurance to ATMs. According to the official website, the UEC will be adopted by around 1,000 national and regional services along with about 10,000 commercial enterprises. The mayor of Moscow has already declared it will be able to handle public transportation there, and we can expect similar adoptions throughout the nation.

 

The cards were scheduled for rollout beginning in January of 2012. However, this has been delayed because the cards are not yet available and the system is not working properly.

 

The revised distribution plan is to give cards to all who apply for them in 2013. The following year, cards will be issued to all citizens, unless a person makes a written statement of refusal.

 

Pakistan

Pakistan’s National Database Regulatory Authority launched the country’s new Smart National Identity Card in October of 2012. It held the launch at the eighth symposium of International Civil Aviation Organization on identity documents, biometrics and security standards.

 

The Smart National Identity Card contains 36 security features. The Pakistani government has invested Rs 200 billion in developing smart card IDs with biometric verification for use in humanitarian assistance and financial inclusion programs. It also plans to roll out e-Government services such as insurance, pension disbursement and e-voting, with the cards.

 

United States

In the US, the battle against a national ID card, deceptively called Real ID, has been fierce. The deadline for implementation has been changed from May 11, 2008 to December 31, 2009 to May 11, 2011 to January 15, 2013. With the January 15, 2013 deadline fast approaching, Homeland Security has been ominously quiet on the issue. With many states still in non-compliance, it appears this deadline won’t be met either.

 

However, after seven years of continual pressure, some of the states seem to be coming around. Even those states that have laws on their books forbidding compliance with Real ID are, in fact, moving to comply.

 

The National Conference of State Legislatures says it’s not trying to get repeal legislation reintroduced into the US Congress and instead is focusing its efforts on changing the Homeland Security Department’s implementing regulations in order to allow states to save face by complying with the law without admitting they’re doing so.

Hitachi Electric announced a new camera technology that can scan days of camera footage instantly, finding any face that has ever passed the camera’s lens. Hitachi claims the new technology can scan 36 million faces per second!

 

FBI Launches New Generation Identification Program

In 2012, the FBI officially started rolling out a state-of-the-art face recognition project that will attempt to accumulate and archive information about each and every American. The cost? $1 billion!

 

As of July 18, 2012, the FBI reports, “The NGI program … is on scope, on schedule, on cost, and 60 percent deployed.”

 

All Students Must Wear RFID Badges

With the beginning of its 2012 fall semester, John Jay High School in San Antonio, Texas launched the Smart ID program for all its students. Each student was given an ID badge containing a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip enabling the school to track students from the time they board the school bus in the morning till they exit the school bus in the evening.

 

Andrea Hernandez refused to wear the tracking technology on religious grounds. She said it was getting too close to the prophesied Mark of the Beast in the Bible.

 

After meeting with school officials repeatedly, Andrea received a letter suspending her from school as of November 26 if she did not agree to wear the badge by that date.

 

On November 21, it was announced that a district court judge for Bexar County, Texas, had granted a temporary restraining order to prevent the Northside Independent School District from expelling Andrea from school. The fight to force compliance is continuing.

 

Just Barcode Everyone at Birth

In May of 2012, science fiction writer Elizabeth Moon argued that everyone should be given a barcode or an implanted chip at birth. She asserted that this would solve mistaken or stolen identity problems for life.

 

Moons proposal brought a quick response from Jay Stanley, senior policy analyst at the ACLU: “To have a record of everywhere you go and everything you do would be a frightening thing.” He warned of a “check-point society” where everyone carries an internal passport and has to show their papers at every turn.

 

“Once we let the government and businesses go down the road of nosing around in our lives…we’re going to quickly lose all our privacy,” Stanley said.

 

When barcoding or chipping every person at birth is being openly and seriously discussed, can the Mark of the Beast be far behind?
