Many people contend that same-sex marriage is a civil right. Yet, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the sin of sodomy.
The word sodomy comes directly from the Bible. Sodom and Gomorrah were two cities known for being so sinful that God decided to destroy them. The prominent sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was the sin of homosexuality.
In the Genesis chapter 18-19 account, God sent two angels to lead Abraham’s nephew Lot and his family out of Sodom before it was destroyed. The men of the city, being aware that two male guests were visiting Lot, surrounded Lot’s home demanding that the men be made available to them for homosexual acts. This is how homosexuality became referred to as sodomy.
Several scriptures describe homosexuality as an abomination to God. Leviticus 20:13 in the Old Testament states:
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”
In the New Testament, Romans 1:26-28 addresses the subject of homosexuality:
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”
From these passages, it certainly does not appear that God considers sodomy a civil right. Conversely, He obviously regards homosexuality as an offense against society and against Himself.
Can homosexuals be saved according to the Bible?
The New Testament scriptures address the subject of homosexuality, along with many other sins common in our day.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 explains God’s view of people who live in a sinful lifestyle:
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
Notice that the Apostle Paul gives quite a list of sins that will result in a person being excluded from the kingdom of God and eternal life. Paul warns us: “Do not be deceived.”
Paul knew 2,000 years ago that a time would come when people would be deceived into believing a person could lead a sinful lifestyle and still be saved. Paul warned, “Don’t be deceived.” Adulterers will not be saved. People who worship false gods will not be saved. Homosexuals will not be saved. Don’t be deceived by the vain philosophies of men rather than believing the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.
Open sodomite chosen to pray at the inaugural service!
How could it possibly happen in America? It was hard to believe, but there it was in front of the entire nation! Homosexual Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson was deliberately chosen to pray at one of the inaugural services. It appeared that President-elect Barack Obama was determined to rub the noses of Bible-believing Christians in the dirt! An open sodomite chosen to lead the nation to the throne of God! How twisted! How perverted! Don’t be deceived. God’s word clearly teaches that those who live such lifestyles have no part in the kingdom of God.
Will America become Sodom II?
At the 2009 annual conference of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender), cleverly called the Human Rights Campaign, President Obama was the featured speaker. His remarks were absolutely shocking!
“You will see a time in which we as a nation finally recognize relationships between two men or two women as just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and a woman,” he declared.
As I listened to these words, I was appalled beyond description! This twisted statement would be perfectly normal coming from the mayor of Sodom. But from the president of the United States of America? Unbelievable!
President Obama continued, “Do not doubt the direction we are headed and the destination we will reach…For despite the real gains that we’ve made, there’s (sic) still laws to change and there’s (sic) still hearts to open.”
It is obvious that President Obama is determined to use the bully pulpit of the presidency to turn America into Sodom II. He has openly opposed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and is advocating its repeal. He sent special congratulations to the same-sex couples that married when a California court ruled same-sex marriage legal, while hypocritically maintaining that he did not favor same-sex marriage.
Is sodomy a civil right?
The argument goes like this. Homosexuals are a minority that is discriminated against just like African-Americans. This argument hinges on believing that homosexuals are born homosexual, just like African-Americans are born black.
But there’s a problem. If homosexuals are “born that way,” then are pedophiles “born that way?” And should pedophilia be a civil right? How about bestiality?
And if they are born that way, why would God say that they must repent or they cannot be a part of the kingdom of God?
What determines civil rights?
We are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our forefathers did not include sodomy in the list of unalienable rights. As a matter of fact, sodomy was a crime in every state in the union as late as 1960!
How do we know what our rights should be? How do we know right from wrong? Are rights strictly determined by the government? Should our rights be determined by majority rule? Or is there a higher authority above human opinion that teaches what our rights should be?
Our forefathers based our entire nation upon the fact that there is an Almighty Creator who has declared certain unalienable rights. If there is no standard of right and wrong, we are left to the whims of the political administration in power at the time. King David in the Bible said, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalm 119:11).
The proponents of sodomy and same-sex marriage claim these actions are civil rights. God claims they are perversions against nature, God, and a person’s own body.
President Obama had the pride and the audacity to unilaterally declare that the United States is not a Christian nation, as though his saying it made it true. I’m sure his purpose is to shake America from its biblical foundation so that he can “change” us into the secular humanistic nation that he envisions. If we do not return to biblical values in this nation, he will be successful in his purpose.
The United States Constitution was based on Judeo-Christian teachings. Our entire system of law has its foundation in the Bible, and this has been the secret of the greatness of this country. As we have forsaken biblical values for the present permissiveness, the United States has moved quickly into decline.
Can Christians embrace homosexuality?
We are now seeing entire “Christian” denominations endorsing the gay agenda. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America recently voted to allow homosexuals to be pastors, as well as hold any other office in the denomination. This was all justified in the name of love.
But how does God look at this. His word instructs us to “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. For if any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15).
How can Christians, in the name of Christianity, adopt anti-Christian beliefs without become unchristian?
Do Americans want to become Sodom II?
While President Obama pursues his one-man campaign to make sodomy acceptable to the American people, Americans are not buying it. President Obama is totally out of touch with the American people who still have respect for the Bible. Thirty-one states have voted on the issue of same-sex marriage. Thirty-one states have voted that it is wrong and unacceptable in the United States of America. The only states that have approved same-sex marriage have done it either through the liberal court system or through their legislatures.
As sure as God sent judgment to Sodom and Gomorrah, God will send judgment against President Obama and all that agree with these actions that are an abomination to Almighty God.
Dear Mr. President, please repent and humbly ask God’s forgiveness for these actions that are directly against God’s word, both Old and New Testaments.
Appeal to Congress:
Are there any God-fearing congressmen left in the Untied States government? Are there any left that have not sold their souls in the name of political expediency? If there are, it is time for you to stand up and be counted—now!
President Obama is determined to reverse the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). He is determined that America will become one huge Sodom and Gomorrah. Dear Congressman: Will you let that happen? If you do, you too will reap the judgment of God as sure as the sun rises in the east and goes down in the west. The time for courage and conviction is now. Please do not sell out to political expediency! America needs you now while we can yet return to moral sanity.
Congress, Mr. President: We are praying for you. Please have the courage to keep America as one nation, under God.

Making legal same sex marriage is not a matter of the bible. There is suppose to be a separation of church and state. How a person chooses to live their lives is not for us to judge, for it also says in the bible judge not…. Who are we or our state or government to say who we choose to fall in love with and have as our life partners? We are nobody to dictate others lives: right, wrong or indifferent! We should quit judging others just because they “sin” differently then we do. I am far from a religious person, my believes are mine and I’m sure that everyone of you on here have your differences in belief. They deserve the same respect as we all have, to live life, fall in love, and marry the person that makes them happy and whole. Who am I or any of us to stand in the way of another persons happiness.
It is Almighty God, Himself who ‘says’ so… Study to show yourself approved with how our Creator made us and how he wants us to live. STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED!
No. God did not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah over same sex marriage; he destroyed them over violence and rape of guests and visitors to the city. Lot would not have offered his daughters if he thought the men of Sodom to be Gay. And if they were all gay, then where did the women and children in Sodom come from?The issue was clearly, violence, cruelty and in-hospitality. Rape is always a crime of violence and control, not of sexual preference.
You either have not studied God’s word or you have overlooked His instructions. Please re-read what God says about this issue!

Marriage is a sacred covenant bound before God, that is between one man and one woman. Even if Obama succeeds this will always be so according to God’s law. I have casual friends that are swingers and gay or lesbian and even have known a few bi- sexual people. I do not ever talk down to them or treat them as less than. But I do pray for them and share Gods love and law when they are open to it. Just as many heterosexuals are lost so are the homosexuals. Many have never heard the gospel or were not raised up in the ways of God. I’m from the Bible Belt in the south. I grew up in a Baptist church. I was taught right from wrong. I eventually found myself on the right path. But I had a friend in middle school who was raised by a high class call girl mother and her father was the black book keeper so to speak. I got saved while knowing her. She never understood me. Until her father who divorced her mother got saved himself and gave her a better home to live in. She understood then the transformation as she saw it more closely. But how many others grew up similarly without knowing anything of God? They are lost, they say they were born this way, but some are just truly lost. We must pray for all of the lost children of God!

One thing we must also consider is that out of so many species in God’s creation, man is the only one that has tried to twist God’s Word and include homosexual’s, lesbians, etc. as being born that way. Donkey’s, as stubborn as they are, recognize their spouse to be the opposite sex.
The Bible says GOD hates sexual sin. In any form. Sex outside of marriage is fornication. Whether one is male or female having sex outside of marriage is a sin. Whether a prostitute or a homosexual, straight male or female, we have the choice to remain pure and the command from God. If homosexuals say they were born that way they still have the choice to remain pure, they still have the command NOT engage in deviant behavior. By changing the meaning of marriage the homosexual community is trying to have us think they have now sex inside marriage sanctioned by God. We aren’t fooled by any changes in the words. No longer is the tern “moral decay” used. No longer is the term ‘sexual deviant” spoken. The Book of Revelation says moral decay, turning away from self examine, denying sin and the power of God will occur with greater intensity as nations deny God. Folks, it’s gonna get worse, and it’s coming faster than you can keep up with the news. God said so! Surprised? No! Disappointed? Yes! Watching our world unfold and descend into darkness is sad and stressful even though we know Christ Jesus is coming. We never thought we’d see these things in our life time. You “ain’t seen nothing yet!” Hold onto to the truth, pray for your loved ones, pray for the salvation of the lost, leaders included, and prepare your body, mind and spirits to receive Christ Jesus as His bride.
I pray this message will invade the minds and hearts of the President and ALL of congress, and the WORD of GOD will change their minds ! Dear Jesus, change and forgive these corrupt souls !

According to Ezekiel 16:49-50, Sodom was actually destroyed for being arrogant and not helping the poor:
49 Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
If you want to talk about God judging a nation, perhaps we should concern ourselves more with avoiding arrogance, haughtiness, being unconcerned, not helping the poor and needy, and other such “detestable things”. According to the Bible, these are things that will destroy our nation.

Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a 1996 law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman, the people of California have spoken, not to mention the Lord God Almighty spoke on it.
This nation of america is a Godforsaken land because her sins are too many. Judgement will keep being heaped upon her through violent extreme weather and other calamities. Her people call that which is good “evil” and that which is evil “good”; and Obama is nothing more than a reflection of her people. Obama is not the anti-christ, but he is the forerunner. However, the righteous should rejoice, for Jesus said that as it was in the day of Noah and Lot (sodom and gomorrah), so shall it be when the Son of man is revealed. Jesus will come as the Lion of the tribe of Judah to carry out God’s fierce wrath upon the ungodly. Then, the righteous will enter into the Perfect Age with Jesus as our King.
So, you don’t want to miss it. Is Jesus your first love? I encourage everyone to study the letters to the Churches in Revelation to see if He really is.
As David removed God from his heart and sat upon theat throne and took Bathsheba and sent her husband to the front to be killed-that is what the people who reject the Word of God are doing. died for all sinners, paid the price for ALL mankind with His work on the cross. If Jesus forgave all, then we can forgive them and pray they will hear the Good News and be saved by the love and grace of the Lord Jesus….as we were!
However, Jesus only forgives those who ‘repent’ and ‘change from their sins’. Granted, sometimes it takes more than one try – He does recognized the effort – so long as we keep on the attempt. Again, only those who ‘repent’ are forgiven.
I’ve been praying for quite some time on these issues. I just pray that God Almighty will not take His hand off this wonderful nation. Unfortunately, there are those who want to come out of the homosexual life, but their stories are either never spoken of or they’re often ridiculed, saying there is no way out, giving them no hope. This coming from the activist groups that embrace it. We need to pray for these people, so that they will know who God truly is. He is a God of love, not one who wants us to go down a dark, lonely path, filled with disease. May they find His loving light.

This Nation was based on Christianity. The whole reason we are here to begin with is because of Separation from the church in England so that we could worship God and serve him freely and obey his laws. SO why is this even being made an option? It’s ridiculous and makes our Nation look as if they do not stick with their beliefs. At least in other countries they take their religions seriously. How is it that a Hindu or an muslim can pray and worship more than a Christian in America? What has happened to our nation. We need to humble ourselves before our Lord and stand for His Holy Word.
This nation was not based on Christianity. It was based on “freedom of religion”. It never mentioned Christian, only The Father God. Secondly, we can only control ourselves based on “free-will”, you will never change another. I can never imagine being gay, but I’m sure it’s not easy to deal with if you happen to be. I can go along with designating legal rights but not marriage. However, I can’t control how others feel.

I too get very tired of hearing that they were born that way. My entire family, besides my mother always brings this topic up at holiday events. It’s like they just want to see me squirm. I have tried to be very patient, and loving when I explain why it’s sin, and point out that it’s no different then the sin in my life. Sin is Sin…. Repentance is needed. Thank you Lord for keeping me strong with belief, and filling me up when I fall. I want to be a warrior for you. God bless all saints. I pray for all of our unsaved familes across the globe. Very scary events are coming their way, I can’t image facing them without you. I pray of Obama, even though it’s hard for me to do that.
I believe need to stand up for being a Christian nation. We must speak up and not stand for what Obama is trying to do to us. Sin is still sin. It will not change and neither will God. I pray we can return to our roots of a Christian nation.

I believe if we don’t take a stand now as born again Christians taking action against the government’s decision’s that they are making, God will hold us responsible, as we are the salt of the earth and we are here to represent Jesus. This earth belongs to God and we are heirs so this earth belongs to us. So, we must rise up to protect our nation and be bold enough to show who we really are and who is really in control.
I believe the reason God hates the act of homosexuality is the fact that life is placed in the dirtiest part of the body. All life is sacred to God. The devil knows this, that is why he uses homosexuality and abortion as an enticement. Life is precious to God. We are created in His image and in His likeness. In a sense, it is like placing a part of God there, or trying to kill God. No worse crime that I can see.
